Tachs are coil sensing. Since you have a start problem, chk tach wiring at coil and coil wires.
If all is good, Locate or identify the tach wire and disconnect it. The tach wire should be on the negative side of the coil. If bike starts without tach wire hooked up, Your tack is more than likely the culprit. If bike stll won't run, chk for power to the coil and any possible fuse in ignition circuit. Under the seat I think. Good Luck

My 99 r1 misses at 3000 rpm and the tacho needle jumps about wildly. any soloutions to this problem

check your fuel filter, sounds like starving when certain amount of fuel required. Have seen debris collect in tank at shut off screen, if you have one where line attaches to tank. BUT, sounds like a fuel limitation issue....Anyone??

Noise comeing from the dashboard

I am guessing you have a mechanical tacho, these have a flex drive comes off the cam or crankshaft, when these are not engaged in the drive correctly, it flicks off center causing a click or grinding noise from the tacho housing. to cure just undo tacho cable engage center cable reconnect outer cable, problem should be cured, if not send me a message with more information

I live in Kenya and have a GS 1150 wich I got after an accident. Have rebuilt it all but had to make a Ky. ****** does not want to start. I have sparks and Injection! Is ther Immobolizer or Transponder in...

There is no imobilzer built into the key. There could be many reasons for the bike not starting, but some of the obvious ones include the side stand cut out switch if this was damaged. Have a good look there first. It may also be linked to the hall effect sensors. These are located behind the large oval cover at the front of the engine. You can test if they are working. Switch the ignition on, put the bike in gear and turn the rear wheel by hand. You should here the injectors 'firing'. Often a clue that this has failed is the tacho needle will bounce around while you turn the engine over. Finally, make sure the throttle position sensor is set correctly and undamaged. Its the black box mounted on one of the throttle bodies. I doubt if it is the rings, these engines are mechanically very tough.
