Got spark good compression. and fule. electric choke. but wont stay running when cold.

The electric choke may not be getting power. The power wire for the electric choke is usually connected to the ignition "on" switch. When the electric choke coil is energized it will open the carb choke plate completely after approximately 3.5 min. Some potential problems could be: 1, The electric choke is getting constant power and therefore is always open or has no power. 2. The carb choke plate needs to be adjusted or the plate hangs up when opening or closing.

My choke light stays on while i drive my 84 firebird trans am. Why does it do that and how can i make it go away?

the choke light will come on when the choke is on i assume its electric choke if the choke is on vehicle would run poorly flood out and stall if vehicle runs fine then its in the electrics of the choke switch or a bad wire to the choke that says its on even when its not i would start there first.

Where can I get a wiring diagram for electric choke

if the engine or carb maker can't help then may have a parts breakdown. But it sounds like the choke is grounded out somewhere.

1986 Chevette choke isnt working :? New thermostat and rebuilt carb

Your car should have an electric choke set-up from the factory. The computer sends a signal to the coil inside the choke cover and turns it on and off over a specific time period. The coil inside the choke cover could be bad or the wire coming to it. If I remember right, there was an odd shaped plug-in for the choke and it caused problems. It was only available at the dealer. The computer would take it's signal from a temp sensor so that could be bad too.

If it was my car, I'd go to the auto parts store and pick up a kit ($20) to convert it to a manual choke, cheaper and easier than playing with that electric contraption. Hope this helps.

84 ford f150 carburetor was rebuilt runs great when cold kicks and bucks when warm have to stomp on throttle to get to go

Sounds as if your choke is hanging up, or not opening at all. With the engine warm remove the air cleaner, there is a butterfly valve right inside the top of the carburetor If this is closed or mostly closed your choke needs to be adjusted. There are manual and electric chokes, yours should be an electric choke. First with engine cold and the key turned to on check for voltage at the choke wires. If you have voltage, then you might just need to adjust your choke. Electric chokes heat up an element inside the choke to tighten a spring and open the choke butterfly valve at the top of the carburetor. There should be between 4 and 5 screws that hold a ring around the choke housing on the side of the carburetor with the wires going to it. While holding the round choke housing in place loosen all of the screws on the retaining ring. If you can feel the choke housing wanting to spin turn it the opposite way that it wants to turn. Do this in stages until your choke butterfly valve is open with the key turned on, or the engine warm. Hope this helps if you have more questions just ask.

Replaced Carb with a Edelbrock electric choke and now the truck will not start...Put new distirbortor on and new plugs and new wires...

The choke may be out of adjustment if the choke blade is fully closed you may have to adjust until partially open. The other possibility is the distributor is not installed correctly or the plug wire may be mixed up.

1981 chevy pickup with a carburated 305 is hard starting, runs rough and when warmed up runs fine.......have replaced two carbs and the problem still exists......the carb im using now is a factory rebuilt...

Is the choke operating properly? You say the current carb has an electric choke, so I am assuming the original carb did not have an electric choke. If that's the case, have you wired the electric choke to a power supply?
