a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: have 89 honda xr 250 and has trouble going into third gear.

You have a bent shift fork. The repair means taking the engine out of the frame then removing the top end, removing the flywheel and electrics, removing the clutch , shift mechanism and kick starter and a few other parts. THEN you are ready to split the gearbox to remove the gears and gear shafts then shoif drum and bent shift fork. Next you get to put it all back together. This is a pretty big job for the home mechanic.

You will need an impact driver, flywheel puller, case splitter and torque wrench plus the normal screwdriver, pliers, etc.. Alternate to the special tools is taking it to the dealer and say "Fix it".
I normally tell people to take it to the shop just so they don't get into such an involved project.

Please rate this solution. Thanks

SOURCE: engine noise

sounds like it could be 2 things. the valve tappets, meaning valves need adjusting and or loose cam chain which may need adjusting.

I have a 2008 Saturn Astra Xr its making a grinding noise what could it be if it's not the brakes or rotors.

It could be worn out constant velocity joints, if it is noisy only at slow speeds, and turning makes it happen too, get them checked asap.
