Kawasaki Z1000 engine doesnt rev more than 5000-6000 rpm, why?

Engine doesnt rev more than 6000 rpm, where should be electronical issue somewhere, maybe anybody knows where? than you

Sounds like the cpu is corrupted needs to be re-mapped,  Best to take it in , just ask them to reset it back to default values ,

Hi, Tyler and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
2. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Faulty main circuit breaker and or connections.
4. Faulty ignition coil and or connections.
5. Faulty spark plug, oil or gas fouled, wrong heat range or service type, wrong gap, loose in the cylinder head, broken electrode or insulator.
6. Faulty spark plug cables, leaking or broken, internal damage check for spark leakage in the dark.
7. Faulty ignition module, switch, CKP, MAP, CMP, sensor and or any connector in the ignition circuit could have corroded, loose, or broken pins/sockets
8. Burnt exhaust valve or air leak in the exhaust system.

My kawasaki z1000 2003 does not want to rev starts and idels beautifully but when i get to about 4000rpm it doesnt pick up revs ... can anyone give me some advice on what i can look for.


Hi, Wessel and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition and leaking check for spark leakage in the dark.
3. Spark plug gap too close or too wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module, and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
7. Intermittent short circuit due to damaged wire insulation.
8. Intake air leak.
9. Water, dirt, or rust in the fuel system, fuel pump and/or filter.
10. Old dead or bad fuel.
11. Faulty fuel pressure regulator
12. Pinholes in the in tank plastic convoluted tubing from the pressure regulator to the quick disconnect check valve.
13. Fuel tank vent system plugged.
14. Throttle body controls misadjusted.
15. Damaged throttle body or intake seals.
16. Loose, dirty, or corroded ignition module connector at crankcase.
17. Faulty MAP, CKP, O2, and/or CMP sensors.
18. Incorrect valve timing.
19. Weak or broken valve springs.
20. Damaged intake or exhaust valve.
21. Check for engine trouble codes.
22. Clogged air filter.

Kawasaki klv 1000 .have got a misfires between 3000 and 4000 rpt what could cause this have changed spark plugs no difference

I have a 1999 kawasaki zx7r ninja i installed led front turn signals and the only way they will work is if i rev the engine can anyone help


When you rev the engine, the alternator voltage increases. I think that the LED bulb does not light up, do to not enough voltage at lower rpm's or idle speed. Buy some LED bulbs that are rated for the correct voltage. There is a minimum voltage requirement before the LED can turn on. If you have the correct voltage LED bulbs, then there is not enough current, in hundreds of milliamperes, until you rev the engine.

2004 Kawasaki z1000 will not start


Hi, Artis23manni and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. The fuel tank has old dead gas.
3. Fuel tank bottom contaminated with ethanol sludge, dirt, water, rust, etc.
4. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
5. Fouled spark plugs.
6. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enrichner.
7. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
8. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
9. Fuel line to carburetor or throttle body pinched, kinked or blocked.
10. Carburetor float stuck.
11. Fuel injectors clogged.
12. Fuel injectors stuck open.
13. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a cursory reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
14. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
15. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil or plug between ignition sensor and ECM module.
16. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting check for spark leakage in the dark, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
17. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or MAP, CMP, CKP, O2, TPS, ETP, IAC sensors.
18. Faulty neutral, clutch lever, or kickstand safety switch.
19. Faulty fuel pump or fuse or relay.
20. A stuck bent or burnt valve.
21. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
22. Security system not disarming alarm needs a reset.
23. Check for engine trouble codes.

Kawasaki z1000 wont start and the f1 light flashes


The flashing FI is telling you that the Fuel Injection computer has detected a problem in the system. Some problems are minor (dirty air filter) and the computer will still allow the bike to run. Some problems are major (plugged up injectors) and the computer will not allow the engine to start. You will need to have a dealer check the computer diagnostic reading to find out where the problem is.

My rev counter does not work on my kawasaki er5 1999


The ER5 has got an electronic rev-counter, no cable.

Like the oval rear brake-drums this is another ER5 bugbear, the rec/rec fails, the battery boils and the rev-counter is usually a victim too.
Often on ER5 specific forums there will be someone who repairs the circuit board and sells the repaired units much cheaper than a new one. it's usually a tiny zener-diode that is killed.

I have purchased a kawasaki z1000 which has a whinning noise in sixth gear its back at the shop at the moment but i would like some idea so i do not get fobbed off with some over my head technical jargon


as it turns out there really is not so much a problem just over torqueing the engine at low revs but if anything happens the shop has said if anything goes wrong related to the gearbox they will repair it even outside the warranty period at this point i would like to thank you for such a helpful and useful service
