SOURCE: I have a 2003 mitsibishi
Its the electric actuator motor that opens and closes the fresh air door for the a/c. You will notice the clicking stops when you adjust the a/c temperature setting during the clicking. I got a replacement for my 99 from a junkyard and changed it out. I've seen dozens of complaints of this problem online.....i had thought it was only mine. I guess it was a poorly manufactured part.

sound like you evaporitor for the AC. there is a hose that is plugged that needs to be cleaned so the water can run to the ground.
SOURCE: 2003 Galant Clicking noise when trying to start.
It is your battery it may not be completly dead but it is too dead to run the starter. It take 300 -600 amp to run a starter and 20 amp to run a stereo
SOURCE: Loud pop, timing belt ? , mitsubishi diamante 00
Very possible it was the timing belt. If the main serpentine belt seems loose, it also coould be your pulley. If you can check it now, the tensioner pulley is the one you see that is very silver looking on the side that actually supports the OUTSIDE of the belt. If you can go take a look at it now, grab ahold of it and try to move it. The only motion it should make is a spinning motion....this will be step one on figuring out the problem....will take one minute to verify.....
