Start with the smallest drill bit possible . it is best to use three sizes in drill bits to get to the final size you need. drill slowly with less pressure than you would normally use.

Trying to install Sunlite HD tourer rear carrier #45772. on a Rand 18 speed. There are no holes for front brackets in frame. Do you just drill the holes?

Never drill holes in a bike frame unless you have a death wish. "Rand 18-speed" doesn't tell us much. Most cheapo bike frames have a 'brake bridge' with a hole on the center for mounting accessories like fenders. Many racks can mount with a single rather than double front supports.. Lacking that, call a bike shop or web search for "bicycle seatstay rack clamps" to adapt the rack to attach to the seat stays.

Sunlite also makes a seatpost rack mount http://www.bikebagshop.com/sunlite-rack-mount-seat-post-clamp-p-1146.html?gdftrk=gdfV22203_a_7c1316_a_7c5544_a_7c11461678151 which looks like a more elegant way to solve the problem.

How do you install the rear rack ears

I don't know about the Peavey amp but most have rack holes that run parallel with the amp's side panels. On the rear of the rack this requires a mounting kit unique to your rack (provided there are mounting rails present) or some creative strapping to properly stabilize the amp. I've seen tech's anchor the rear mounts to the inside of the rack walls. Wood is easiest (and strongest) to work with but fiberglass mounts with fender washers also creates a pretty strong mount....G.

Will luggage mounts from other airheads fit?

Hi
No pannier frames for the r65 are the only one that will fit. the rack fits to the frames. If you have the r65LS then you will need to make brackets to move the rack back so you can still open the seat.

How do i change inner tie rod , do i need a special tool.

i think steering gear has to be removed to get rubber bellows off to access tie rod.

486d579.gif Section 11-02: Steering System, Power 1997 Continental Workshop Manual
DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY Tie Rod and Bellows SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REQUIRED Description Tool Number Bench Mounted Holding Fixture T57L-500-B
Disassembly
  1. NOTE: Drill out mounting holes in holding fixture with a 9/16 inch drill to allow the power rack and pinion steering gear assembly mounting bolts to fit.

Mount power rack and pinion steering gear assembly in Bench Mounted Holding Fixture T57L-500-B.
  1. Remove tie rod ends (3A130).
  1. sve~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: Use care not to damage bellows. If bellows are damaged, this will allow contamination into the steering gear and cause leakage.
Remove four clamps retaining bellows to steering gear housing (3548) and front wheel spindle tie rods (3280). Discard clamps if damaged or excessively corroded.
  1. NOTE: Steering gear does not use rivets or roll pins between the inner front wheel spindle tie rod and rack.

Remove bellows along with power steering gear rack tube (3K762).
  1. Position power rack and pinion steering gear so that several steering gear teeth are exposed. Hold steering gear sector shaft (3575) with an adjustable wrench on end teeth only while loosening ball joint nuts.
Assembly
  1. Expose several steering gear teeth and hold steering gear with adjustable wrench.
  1. Tighten each front wheel spindle tie rod separately to 90-110 Nm (67-81 lb-ft).
  1. Thoroughly clean steering gear and steering gear housing bore of any foreign material. Any abrasive material is extremely harmful to high-pressure oil seals.
  1. Apply Steering Gear Grease C3AZ-19578-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESW-M1C87-A to groove in front wheel spindle tie rod where tie rod bellows clamp to front wheel spindle tie rod and uniformly to inner diameter of tie rod bellows before installation. This allows for toe-in adjustment without twisting tie rod bellows.
  1. Install tie rod bellows and power steering gear rack tube. Make sure power steering gear rack tube is positioned as shown.

What is the difference between Suzuki part # 990A0-75002 and 990A0-75066? Both are luggage racks. I am looking for one for 06 C50.

It appears that the two racks just have slightly different designs by looking at the photos here and here. That still does not tell us which one is which though. Either will fit your 2006 C50, but it appears you must also have a backrest to mount the rack to.

Looking for sportster hard saddle bag installation instructions

nstructions Difficulty: Moderate Things You’ll Need: Step1 Determine what type of saddlebags you will be installing on your motorcycle. Saddlebags come in hard and soft styles, with each installed in basically the same manner. Hard bags tend to offer more security for your items but are a bit on the bulky side, while soft bags offering a little more flexibility. Step2 Check to make sure that your fender bolt area is clean and prepped for installation of your saddlebags. Both hard and soft saddlebags on Harley Davidsons are installed over the fender bolt area on the rear of the motorcycle, so clearing this area of debris and grime will keep it free of scratches and blemishes. Step3 Install any spacers or lifting brackets before you try and place your bags on your Harley Davidson. These spacers will keep you bags from resting against your exhaust pipes and will avoid damage to your motorcycle and to the bags themselves. Make sure they are installed tightly and spaced properly before mounting your bags. Step4 Open the saddle bag packaging and lay out the included hardware. The hardware will be necessary to properly mount your saddlebags to your fenders, so be sure that you do not misplace it. If your saddle bag comes with a fender mounting bracket, install it along the fender before proceeding. This bracket will be used to hold and stabilize your saddlebags, so it is essential that it is properly tightened and installed. Step5 Hold your saddle bag up to the fender and align the bolt holes in the saddle bag with the bolt area on the fender. Your saddle bag will have mounting holes in the side of the bag that will align with the mounting bracket. Place one of the bolts in the hole and tighten to hold it on. Put the remaining bolt in place and tighten them both securely once they are aligned correctly. Step6 Repeat this process with the remaining saddle bag. The bags should align evenly and be attached straight to avoid any imbalances or shifting while the motorcycle is in motion. Try and wiggle or move the bags to be sure your bolts are tight enough to prevent movement. Step7 Take your Harley Davidson for a short ride. Stop and check the fitting on your saddlebags and look at your bolts. Make sure nothing has moved during your ride and that all of your fittings remain tight. With just a bit of effort, your new saddlebags will make your Harley Davidson the envy of the neighborhood.
