Then you need to check the electrical system.
Have a look in the honda common service manual.

1979 Honda CX 500 A misfires badly

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a cursory reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
2. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
4. Spark plug cables in bad condition and leaking check for spark leakage in the dark
5. Spark plug gap too close or too wide.
6. Faulty ignition coil, module, and or sensor.
7. Loose, dirty, or corroded ignition module connector at crankcase.
8. Faulty CKP or CMP, MAP, ETS, ATS, TPS, O2 sensor.
9. Dirty air filter.
10. Intake air leak.
11. Water, dirt, or rust in the fuel system.
12. Carburetor contaminated, sticky float, plugged jets.
13. Carburetor vacuum diaphragm torn, cracked, not seated or installed improperly.
14. Multiple carburetors out of sync.
15. Fuel filter clogged.
16. Old or contaminated fuel.
17. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carb vent line closed off.
18. Gas cap diaphragm valve faulty.
19. Vacuum line from intake manifold to fuel valve is broken, cracked, pinched, or missing.
20. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
21. Incorrect valve timing.
22. Valve springs floating, weak, or broken.
23. Damaged intake or exhaust valve.
24. Incompatible performance parts.
25. Control module may be in "LIMP" mode
26. Check for engine trouble codes.

Ip change cx500

Hi, you can change it doing this:

  • It applies if the storage system is in a domain by itself.
  • If the storage system is the master of a domain, with other members, the master must be changed to another member.
  • If the storage system is a member of a domain but not the master, its needs to be removed from the domain.

Also, check on the router if you are distributing enough IP addresses.

I've founf all such info on this site www.spyip.com , they have forum, where you can find all answers on your question :-))

1979 honda cx500 only runs on one cylinder! I have good spark and feeding it fuel and still wont run !so I'm totally lost on what to do please help???

If you are sure that the idle jet in that carb is clear (spark plug getting wet is a good quick indicator) then I would check the valve clearances as they would be the most likely problem.

If they are o.k. then do a compression test...

No spark to spark plugs. Trying to restore old bike, if I can get it to start. 1982 Yamaha Maxim 750 YICS

That bike has two coils that often go bad, and also it has a semi solid state breaker ignition system that often causes problems. You should join a site for Yamaha maintenance, where you can partake of the members knowledge. see: http://www.yamahaclub.com/forums/topic/8640-1982-yamaha-maxima-650/

I have a 79 cx500 and it doesnt have a spark

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

For a CX500, initial (easy) checks would be:
  • sparkplug cap. In some versions, there is an arrester made up of fuselike carbon resistor with spring and rod. Illustrations here;
  • ensure black/white wire from engine stop switch & ignition switch going to the CDI box does not read zero to ground or simply disconnect it while testing;
  • check for pulsating low AC voltage (0.5VAC) from the pick-up coils, orange.white and blue/white wires;
  • check for pulsating high AC voltage (90+VAC) from the exciter / stator coils. Detailed test shown here;
  • in some instances, the ignition switch would be the culprit. Procedures here;
  • or even as simple as a fuseholder as discussed here.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
