Question about 2003 Suzuki GSX-R 1000

1 Answer

Bike will not start after motor exchange

I have a 2003 Gsxr 1000 and i blew a rod in my old motor. I changed the oil but forgot to tighten the bolt and while on the freeway the bolt came out and all the oil leaked out and blew a rod. I replaced the old motor with a 2002 Gsxr 1000 motor. Ensure all plugs were connected, changed out the sparked plug with top of the line plugs. Connected a dealer mode switch because i was getting F1 flashing on the dash, but the code came back as C00 which means no fault/malfunctions. After all that, when i try to start the motor, it acts as if it will turn over at times, but never catch. A few times it backfire. I made sure all plugs were and coil were in properly but still the motor will not start. I ensured i was getting a spark and fuel was getting to the plugs as well. Does anyone have any suggestions. I know the two years are interchangeable, but are there some connection on the 2003 model that should or shouldnt be plugged in on the 2002 motor?

Got a suzuki gsxr srad 2000 model went out for a ride today since i brought the bike 2 weeks ago and i let her warm up with the choke up must of forgot to put it back down for the ride and now it wont...

Around 2000 was the first year for fuel injection for the GSXR 750. It really isn't a 'choke' in the true sense of the word. It's a device that causes a high idle similar to an 'enrichener circuit' to warm up the bike engine. There should be no damage to the engine by leaving it on for a short ride so I'm thinking there was an unlerlying issue with the bike that the previous owner left undisclosed.

Around 2003 that device was abandoned due to the advancement of technology in fuel injection and was no longer needed.

After typing this response I just noticed the original post date was in 2012 and I'm sure the bike has been either repaired, sold or crashed by now but maybe this answer will be helpful to someone else.....

I just purchased a 2003 883 100 anniverssary sportster. t was parked for a few years. i change the filter and put new oil, new battery and spark plug. when i started the bike the oil cap blew out and it...

Excess motor oil that blew out the oil cap ,when you've parked for a long time the oil in the tank will drop down in the crankcase, then when you start the motor it will go back in the oil tank and then overflow the oil level...You must have to drain the oil tank again and refill it at the correct oil level....

K5 gixxer 1000 tends to cut out untill engine warms up. sometimes when engine has been running awhile to. its just had major service but this has not cured prob.

Clean or replace air filter..then if the doesn't do it, go to Autozone and purchase a can of Sea Foam fuel treatment and pour in 1/3 can to 2 gallons of fuel, purchase or clean up your fuel filter and then dump out the fuel in it, now pour some Sea Foam into the filter and then start it up. if it doesnt start up, then push start it, and get on it and go! Ride for about 10-15 miles on and open highway where you can get on it occasionally to let the stuff work its way through the fuel system. If this did not fix it, then check all your vacuum lines, spray around the carb areas and lines with some carb spray, if the rpm increases ..then theres your problem. Can you rate this! thanks

Do you have to hold the bike level when filling a gsxr with oil?

It's gotta be level bro. Otherwise the oil is all to one side. Level surface and level bike. Good luck bro.

How many quarts of oil does my 2004 GSXR take and what do you recomend

Three quarts for an oil change, 3.3 quarts if filter is changed also.
Use 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell.

When warming up, my K3 GSX-R1000 red light (oil) stays illuminated & F.1 displays where temp is.. what does it mean

I have been told this is the "dealer mode" and it might clear if you the bike off then turn the key back to the on position, but don't start the bike, turn it off then start the bike. this is supposed to reset the FI light.

To find out why it has brought this light up in the first place might require you actually taking it to a dealer, but there are lots of forums and info on this bike on the web

Is there a place to fill the transmission oil on a 2008 gsxr 1000

NO...Engine oil is also the transmission oil. This bike has what is called a wet system which means that the clutches are lubed by the engine oil. Be sure to use a good quality oil and change often depending on how you ride.
