Have you read the manual? If your bike has a large fairing/windshield then you may need to remove it to get at the clocks to unscrew the speedo cable.

There is a set screw holding the cable to the speedo drive at the wheel. Remove it and the cable should release.

No speedo

If it is a cable driven speedo it could be that the cable has worked loose from the back of the speedo and the centre dive cable isn't sitting in the speedo correctly. It could also be that the speedo centre cable ( steel cable) has broken and the rotation from the from drive is only being passed as it catches against the other end occasionally.
Hope this helps

Ford transit gear box from cable to electic

contact the manufacturer and ask them what else needs to be changed on the transmission

usually you have to change the dash harness as well as the engine harness to convert from cable to electronic

sounds like why its not working plus its a lot of work to change the harnesses over

Speedometer Cable

Speedo cables give little trouble these days unless incorrectly fitted or the seizure of the speedo. Few cars in the last couple of decades actually have a speedo cable at all.

There have been a few vehicles with split cables, designed that way because the end fittings were difficult to access, though the joint was usually obvious and very accessible.

The illustration looks like a lower cable with a plain end being clamped to the gearbox by a fork and trapping an oil seal, though a great many upper cables appeared little different except the oil seal was absent and they were secured to the speedo by a spring clip.

One problem is the end fittings of speedo cables are semi-universal and it is possible your car has already been fitted with a cable of non-original design. In the case of doubt the original cable should be removed and compared with the replacement and I advise you to disconnect from the gearbox first and give the inner cable a brisk turn and check whether the speedo needle flickers. If it does the trouble could be the speedo drive in the gearbox.

Speedometer on 1997 Yamaha Majesty not working,

Ken Budd's answer is incorrect: There is only a potential engine problem when the oil light comes on permanently.

The speedo/mileometer on thge Majesty normally sends pulses to a counter that switches on the oil-change warning light at 3,000 km. If the speedo/mileometer ceases to function the oil-change warning light blinks steadily simply to let you know the pulses aren't getting sent to the counter.
The most likely problem is a broken speedo cable; a new one costs £5.72 from AJSutton and you can easily fit it yourself: Take off the windscreen then reach through the gap above the headlamp to unscrew the outer cable beneath the speedo.

I've got the same problem as you right at the moment with my 1996 Majesty but in my case its the gear unit on the front axle (to which the speedo cable connects) that has stopped working: I'm currently on the look out for a new gear unit. Does anybody have one ?

1998 gsxr 750 speedo problem

if the speedo doesn't work through a cable then it probably works on a electronic sensor.try and trace the wire from the back of the speedo to the sensor and replace the sensor.will more than likely be around the front wheel area or the gearbox.
