Question about 2006 kawasaki ZX-6R

1 Answer

I have a 2006 K636 and everytime I take it on a ride and it gets hot the FI light comes on it stutters and then it dies. If I wait for a few minutes it will restart but I'm worried that I might be doing more harm then need be.

My car is sputtering and dying. If I try to restart it, it will immediately go into sputtering/dying mode. If I wait a while an hour or so it will start up and drive fine.

When was the last time that the carburetor was stripped and cleaned? Also have you checked the fuel filter? Finally, the problem seems to come and go as the engine is run (and it gets hot) check that the fuel line and any electrical cables are well away from the hot engine as far as is possible.

check your gas tank cap, it is vented, if it gets clogged up fuel will not flow properly and engine dies of fuel starvation. By waiting a few minutes you have allowed the pressure to equalize in the tank enough to get enough fuel for engine to run.

2006 Arctic Cat ATV dies after about 15 minutes of riding

Sounds as if the gas tank is not breathing properly. The next time you run it, when it's about to die, loosen the gas cap. It should begin to run again. This is a sure sign that your gas cap is clogged. Clear gas cap of debris, or buy a new one.
