Question about 2008 BMW G 650 Xmoto

1 Answer

BMW Xmoto Fuel Injection Question.

I just purchased a 2007 BMW Xmoto, I notice that a rubber hose runs from the fuel injector body back to an instrument located on the right hand side rear subframe. The hose in my case is not connected to this instrument, it has a plug in it. My initial thought was that it should be connected to the instrument as its part of the fuel injection system but am wondering if there is a reason why the hose is not connected & plugged off. Can anyone advise me, Thanks, Joe

If you are talking about the cylinder looking thing it is a charcoal cannister that is just an overflow for the gas. you can actually remove it if you like. if you do, just try not to overfill your gas tank. some people prefer to remove it because they don't like the way it looks. personall,  i like it, so if you do, just hook the hose up to the bottom of the cannister.

Tried to repair a gas leak under car . we tried to repair the hose now it doesnt leak from above the hose only under and used 2 clamps and it is tight as we are able to get it is it the metal piping ?

you don`t say what type of fuel system you have, carburetor or fuel injection, throttle body or port fuel injection system.this determines the type of repair.if it is port fuel injection then you cannot repair with a hose,it must be repaired with a steel line as the fuel pressure is above 30lbs pressure and rubber hose is not strong enough for the can replace the section of line that is bad with a new steel line connected to a good section.if it`s carburetor the pressure is only about 6 to 8lbs pressure, and a hose can make the repair.if it`s throttle body then the pressure can range anywhere from 15 to about 20lbs pressure, this can be repaired with fuel injection gas hose,so you can see it makes a difference what system you have.any rubber hose used must be a fuel line hose not just any rubber hose.

Hi my bmw 316i 1600 with a e36 engine is only doing about 10 to the gall, any ideas, also notice a strong smell of petrol when first starting car and smells stays there for about 15 mins, and also notice...

run the fault codes
problems with running rich include:-
injectors not working properly
excessive fuel pressure
leaking injector seals
heated oxygen sensor failure ( they are located in the exhaust manifold /pipe before the cat converter and are used to read the exhaust gas composition and report to the ECM which adjusts the air/fuel mixture accordingly
ambient air /BARO sensor which report the air temp/pressure to again allow the ECM to set mixture
The strong fuel smell can be from fuel leaks , flooding --as stated with injectors or an EVAP system vent solenoid problem
The first 4 possibles would be the most obvious place to start especially with a fault code reading

Where would i locate the fuel filter on a 1999 Ford taurus Se at?

Fuel Injection
General Information (System Description)
Electronic fuel injectors for all gasoline engine applications are basically
the same. They consist of an injector body, an electric solenoid, spring, nozzle
and a filter. The injector is supplied a constant supply of pressurized fuel
from the fuel system. The primary function of the fuel injector is to atomize
gasoline into the surrounding air at the proper time. Throttle body injectors
atomize fuel into the intake manifold in much the same manner as a conventional
carburetor (wet intake); port fuel injectors direct the atomized fuel at the
back side of each cylinders intake valve(s) (dry intake). Gasoline direct
injection systems operate at substantially higher pressure and direct the
atomized fuel directly into the combustion chamber of each cylinder.
Az Filters/Fuel Filter
Part Number:
The Fuel Filter is located: Under vehicle, passenger side, below seating area, passenger side of fuel tank, mounted on frame in fuel line
