Fuel tank spec. at 17L. Ran out of fuel, and filled it with 14L. Still had 3L of fuel. Why can't I get all the gas out of the tank? And what can I do to get the rest of the fuel? Why does the gas light go on with only 10.5L approx. used up. Anyone esle have fuel pick up problems?

No sorry, petcock is located center of tank. No reserve marks and I can't turn the petcock. Just a light indicating when the tank is in reserve.

    Thanks

Change your fuel filter. Running the tank empty will pull any sediment that has accumulated in the bottom of the tank into the fuel system. There is a good chance your filter is clogged and not letting enough fuel to the engine.

96 v8 explorer ran out of gas,i filled it up now it wont start

Sounds as if you have a air lock in the fuel system. You might have to bleed the fuel line to get the air out. Also check the fuel filters there might be one in the tank and one in the engine compartment. If you ran it out of fuel it could of picked up debris from the tank that normally stays there when it has fuel but when you run it out it pulls all the debris to the fuel pick line which can have a filter on it also.

I have a 97 nissan sentra ive ran out of gas 3 times this month and the last time i ran out of gad i filled it and drove it for a while that day then it shut off and wont start no more

more like fuel pump damaged. gasoline keeps fuel pump cool and lubricated if fuel tank run empty fuel pump will over heat which will destroy it. never run out of gas.fuel filter will get plugged with debris from fuel tank when tank runs empty all sediment botton tank will break up stop up fuel filter.

Ran my baja sc125 til it ran outta gas, filled it, now it wont start

Hi, Carlos if you have an old bike that has not had regular fuel system maintenance and you run the fuel tank dry I feel your pain. All the contaminants water-dirt-rust-liner paint flakes-ethanol sludge etc. that lived in the bottom of your fuel tank get mixed with the last few oz. of fuel left in the tank and enter the fuel system clogging up fuel filters-fuel valves-fuel lines-carburetor jets-needle jets and seats-fuel injectors etc. You fill up your fuel tank and guess what your bike does not start or if it does it runs like dog caca, a complete cleaning of the fuel system is mandatory, the procedure is as follows:
1. Drain the fuel tank and inspect the inside for leftover uninvited guests decontaminate as necessary for rusty environments install a liquid fuel liner.
2. In tank fuel pumps with external filters need to be cleaned.
3. Fuel valves need to be rebuilt with a new gasket kit.
4. Fuel lines need to be inspected for integrity and replaced as necessary any inline fuel filter should be cleaned or replaced.
5. Carburetors need to be disassembled then "DIPPED" and soaked in a commercial carb cleaning solution Gunk sells 1/2 gallon pails with meshed screen baskets. Reassemble using new rebuild kits. Record all jet sizes and float level for fine tuning.
6. Fuel injectors and fuel rails need to be properly cleaned and tested for optimum performance, if necessary send off any suspect injectors to "InjectorRx.com" for a modest fee they will refurbish the unit back to factory specs.

Chugging when I accelerate

When you ran out of gas, the pump probably pucked up crud from the bottom of tge tank and clogged the fuel filter - it's not uncommon. I'd change the fuel filter, and pick up a can of Seafoam (Walmart or any auto parts store). The next time you fill up, pour the Seafoam into the tank and fill up on top of it. That'll help clean the lines, tank, and injectors. Then you should be good to go.

2wd truck ran out of gas. Filled it, it ran for about 5 km then died. Tried putting gas into carb, ran for a bit, then quit. Obviously not getting gas. Where is the fuel filter located, or is there a fuel...

The filter may have been clogged and thus not allowing the fuel to pass and may be the float pin in the carburator float chamber may also have clogged if dirt has passed along.
To find out where the fuel filter is, trace the fuel (gas) pipe from the tank to the fuel pump to the carburator.
I guess the filter should be somewhere between the tank.
Hope this helps!
