If it's been sitting for 2 years, the carbs are clogged and battery is toast most probably....sometimes these good friend "deals" are not really so good...A thousand things could be wrong w/it and if your not mechanical you can find a private mechanic that will charge much less than a shop, just make sure he is reputable.....you can download a service manual for free at carlsalter.com if you want to get your hands dirty....Good Luck to you friend.....Tim

p.s. maybe your friend will take it back and you could buy something that runs..my 1st bike cost $175.00

How do i hook up the fuel line on my 1994 yamaha 600r

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enricher.
5. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
6. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
7. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
8. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
9. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
10. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or sensors (MAP, CMP, CKP, O2 and/or BAS).
11. Faulty fuel pump fuse or relay.
11. Security alarm needs a reset.

I just bought a 1991 yamaha fzr 600r and the previous owner said that the stator needed replaced and that's why it wouldn't start . I went to order the part and the parts store said he doesn't think it's...

Install new plugs, the stock plugs are NGK R CR9E. Clean the air filter. Drain the carb float bowls. Now make sure the gas valve is turned on. Charge the battery with a low amp charger, 3 to 5 amp, overnight. Be sure water covers the top of the plates in the battery before charging. Give the air cleaner intake a shot of starting spray when all is ready. Also, don't believe anything the previous owner said. Hello I have a 1994 YAMAHA FZR 600R I took the plug out of my crank case last night and seen no oil down in side where should the oil level be and what should i use in it.

With plug I presume you are talking about the oil filler plug, When you open oil filler plug normally you will see a dipstick showing how much oil is in the crankcase, if not, find an oil level window near foot clutch lever or another way is to use a piece of skinny stick, dip it in perpendicular to bike oil hole and pull it straght out. it should show about 2-3 cm in height. You can use normal meneral bike oil SAE 10-40W about 2.5-3.5 L to fill cranckcase full.

Sounds like the bike has been doing wheeles and burnouts. As the clutch plates wear the cable needs adjusting. You have reached the end of the actuating cam. New plates are your best bet.
