Driving from Kingsport Tennessee through the Mountains of the Carolina's on into Ocala Florida, at night, in the cold, I noticed the car was running hotter than normal. After a refueling stop, I noticed the fan was not making it's usual humming sounds, so I looked, and sure enough...it stopped working. I had to finish the trip with the windows down and the heater/defrosters on high heat... My question is this : What do I check to see if it's the fan motor itself, or something else like an electronic relay of some sort ?
There will be a coolant fan relay in the circuit for the fans. Usually the relay is turned on by a computer signal to it, and power then goes to the fan.
Test the fan motor with jumper wires from the battery. If fan works, you will have to find the relay under the hood to check it.

Let your engine warm up with the rad. cap off and see if the coolant level drops. and make sure your overflow is full. It blows cold air because there is no water getting to the heater core. And it shows a normal(ish) temp because the water needs to be touching the temp. sensor. I really do think there is air in the system and there is not enough coolant but hard to tell from here. Also as with overheating any time make sure to check your oil and look for any coolant as the head gasket seldomly holds together if the motor overheats.

actually you have thought of all but the prob. The track has jumped, making the motor not move the window. Sometimes you can gently slide the window up by hand and then the motor will catch the track and finish rolling the window up
