Question about 2000 Triumph Legend TT

Brake lights don't work

Triumph Legend TT 900 -- fuse is good for brake light circuit. Tail lights and indicator lights work and they are on same fuse. But brake lights do not work. Any ideas?

FIXED (at least partially). First off, finally I have found a site that gives quick expert feedback. Thank you!!! I plan to use this site more.
After tracing the wiring, I found a terminal connector pulled loose on the back of the front hand brake. Easy fix. Also checked and rechecked the terminal connector on the foot rear brake pedal. But to no avail. The rear brake does not light the brake lights.

Again, thanks for the quick reply. I checked the foot switch and it is open when brake is not depressed and the multimeter reading is very erratic when I press on the brake. Ranges from almost nothing to several hundred Meg ohms. Obviously something is not right. Maybe a spring like you suggest here. At least now I know the wiring is not suspect.

Also, when I unscrewed the thingy on top of the foot brake switch with two terminals that the wiring boot plugs into, brake fluid began to drip. Guess I did not expect that. Not sure which part of the whole assembly might be bad. Thanks for any insight you might have here.

Test the bulbs, either with a multimeter or by taking leads from the battery (one from each terminal) and touching them on the bulbs terminals...no light...new bulb.
If bulbs are OK then clean all terminals with emery paper. Still no luck...use mulitimeter to test continuity from fuse to bulb seat terminal. If no continuity check the wiring has not been damaged...if so replace it. Usually this is a corrosion problem. Good Luck.

Depressing the brake pedal must close a circuit. I am not familiar with this model but I would guess that there is a switch that may be loose or has failed. Sometimes these are spring-activated and the spring may be worn. I think you should test the switch (multimeter again) and make sure it is firmly fixed.

I can't think of anything more.

Check your fuses to make sure they are OK. Your turn signal is on a different circuit than the tail lights. I think.

The turn signals and brake lights use the same circuit and filament in the bulbs. The tail lights are on the other circuit which comes from the headlight switch.

These are all different circuits. The brake lights are on a 10amp fuse - the headlights are on a 50amp fuse - and the parking and dash lights are on a 20amp fuse.

I have no break lights or turn signals

Turn signal tail lights and BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING

It can be faulty brake light switch causing the problem or its blown brake light bulb. First check and confirm brake light lamp is working and that's not the case.

For turn signal not working it can be faulty turn signal switch or its issue with wiring:----

Fthe tail light works but the brake light doesn't work, it probably is the module that has a circuit board. I have replaced it 2 or 3 times on my 2004 XL Envoy ... can I get a part number and location...

First let's determine which brake lights are not working. Does the high mounted brake light work? Do both left and right brake light not work? If none of the brake light work, the problem could be the brake light switch at the brake pedal OR fuse #12 in the underhood fuse panel.
If only the bake lights at the corner lamp assembly don't work, check fuse #34 in the rear fuse panel.
The module your are referring to is the circuit board located in each of the corner lamp assemblies, check on website www.compnine.com for the part number of this item. I don't believe this is your problem though.

Interior dash and running lights dont work but my signal and brake lights work else works

Look at fuse #18, a 15 amp fuse, in the fuse block. This fuse powers both the tail lights and instrument cluster lights. Usually both of these light systems are powered by the same fuse so when your cluster isn't lit up you'll know right away that your tail lights aren't working as it's not safe to drive without tail lights. Your brake, turn, and head lamps are powered by different circuits. Hope this helps and good luck!
