Started, died will not stay started unless starter button is held

Bike started and was idling fine, gave it a little throttle and it died. Now it will only run if you hold the starter button in, once you let off the bike dies.

Check for spark and fuel. The spark should be blueish-white and consistently flashing. If the ark is dull-orange and/or inconsistent then there is a problem. the fuel should flow freely from the pet-****, through the needle and seat, and past the primary and secondary jets. There are other things that can cause this problem, check the intake manifold gasket, spark plug, wire, water in the gas, and so on. well good luck.

Difficulty Starting my 2003 Vulcan1600, any ideas?

Is it starting ok now after that first start and ride? If so it's probably fine. The light is there to indicate faults and if it doesn't come on with the engine on then the computer doesn't have any detected faults. I believe it's normal for the light to be on 'till you start but you could find a Kawi dealer or bike shop and ask just to be sure. As for a EFI regulator, if you're referring to a fuel pressure regulator, I believe it does have one. The most common failure of them is the diaphragm punctures sending fuel into the vacuum line connected to it. It'll be a little metal can attached to the fuel rail near the injectors with a skinny vacuum hose and a fatter fuel hose connected to it. Pull off the vacuum line and see if there's any gas in it, if none start the bike, if still none it's probably fine. If it's leaking it can cause hard starts, stumbling idle, and other running issues. They're generally easy to replace and not much $, the one for my CBR1100 was $40 and took me about 20 minutes to replace.

Monday morning my car would not start. Got a jump, still nothing. Banged on the starter box, started right up. Ran around the block died shortly after and would not start again. Took the starter,...

Cheque for disconnected vacuum hoses. sometimes this happen after working around the engine, if everything looks good, start the engine press down the accelerator pedal keep the engine running about 2500 rpm for 3 minutes then let the engine idle, if the engine idle this means you need a new idle speed control motor, if the engine still dies most probable the fuel pump it's going out if you have a code reader it's possible you have some codes and this can give a good direction

In park the engine dies; only will run if given gas

It sounds like there is a problem with the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. Its job is to open and let air into the manifold when the throttle is closed at idle. If it does not open, the engine dies at idle. The IAC is mounted on the throttle body. Possibly the valve is clogged or stuck, in which case it could be ok again if it is removed and cleaned. Or it is broken, and needs to be replaced. Or, there is a problem with its electrical connection, that needs to be traced. Good luck, let me know if you have any questions.

Wont idle properly.

vacuum leak.....get some carb cleaner an when you can get the bike to idle somewhat normal spray around hoses and intake manifolds...if idle increases that where the problem is.

97 TL 1000 won't start after winter storage

Install new sparkplugs. Activate choke. Do not touch throttle. Push starter button. Do not touch throttle. If bike stalls repeat until it stays running, then you may give it a little throttle. If I give my TL any throttle on start up it floods. It usually takes 2 or 3 tries where the bike starts then stalls before it stays running. DO NOT TOUCH THROTTLE UNTIL IT IDLES. THEN GENTLEY.
