Buell 2009 Lightning 1200 motorcycle--purchased it used...ran 500 miles and killed...it's at a Harley mechanic shop (the mechanic worked on Buell's), started with electrical, now they say its the ECU unit... put it on the computer and has not figured it out yet.

You charged the battery off of the battery charger with a trickle charge. The battery wouldn't charge while you're riding, because your alternator took a cr@p.

3.Battery is at 13.4 volts now? What is the specific gravity of the acid in each cell? Don't have a hydrometer? Do you have a load tester? No? Since you measured the voltage, do you have a multimeter?
Test the voltage with the bike running. It should be around 14.6 volts when charging, less with the battery fully charged.
Don't get the correct reading, then you better look at alternator replacement. (Regulator is built in)

main thing befor you drill the mounting hole, make sure its in the middle and the right spot. i did many accurate mods on harleys for ppl because you need a good eye, which most deaalerships dont have. place tape on fender, measure, mark, measure again then drill small hole, check, if good drill full size, if of , drag hole then drill.

Like they say, mileage may vary depending on conditions and how you choose to drive. But ..if you were trying to see how far you could go on a gallon..you might be surprised to find out that you could probably get close to 55 miles a gallon. With my 1987 1100CC Sportster, I got 55 MPG. Then I put on Screaming Eagle Carb and pipes and the MPG dropped to 45MPG. Typically you can beat the MPG numbers that the Manufacturer gives you if you go easy on the throttle and don't exceed the speed limit, and drive smoothly. Good luck!
