SOURCE: removal of battery
Hi .... On your fob you have a few options, you have to press the fob to place it in service mode.
2.Turn ignition on
3.press and hold the smaller of the two buttons on the fob until you hear a beep.
This is service mode but you still get a beep every few seconds which will drive you nuts! It must have a backup battery built in because it continues even without the battery.
You can take it out of service mode by pressing the arm/disarm button.

http://www.visordown.com/forum/forummessages/mps/utn/378448/v/1/cp/1/ You paid how much??? $500?? I don't pay that much for full coverage, let them steal the thing and you go get a new bike!! Leave the crooks a note so they can buy the key from you, because they will never get it started anyway. I stopped worrying about my 02, S4, and since then, I don't even take the key out, I leave my helmet and jacket on the bike, nobody has messed with it yet. I wish they would steal it, I'm looking at a new BMW. Sorry I can't help with the wiring, I have a big book here but no wiring.
