No power to my headlights or wipers

My windshield wipers & headlights recently stopped working & I've noticed that if I tap on the fuse/relay box with the black cover located next to the alternator, that the lights will turn on but they won't turn off (even when car is off & keys are out) unless I tap on the box again. Please help !

It sounds like you have some loose wires, or bad ground since you found the place that when tapped does something, first thing disconnect your battery, neg first, the pos, there should be a couple of bolts holding down the fuse box, take them out, now if you can turn it over, or try to locate the wires hooked up to the one fuse you were tapping, checking those wires to make sure they are good, not rusted, broken, bare , and tight, fix if not if not, then check the bus bar on the fuse box, this is were the pos cable from the battery goes, sometimes these come loose, break, and can cause all kinds of things also check your ground wires, to make sure they have a good ground

SOURCE: No dashboard lights or windshield wipers.

I had the same problemon my 87 model z. If you are looking at the front of the car THe battery Should be one the left. Just below the battery there is a little black box with some diferent colored wires in it. The one closest the the front of the car(SHOULD BE GREEN) is called a fusible link. You cant tell if its melted by the naked eye most likely, but if you pull on that wire i guarantee that its burnt. Touch the two burnt ends back together and vialah, everything cuts back on. Make sure your battery wasnt installed backwards. That was the reason mine blew.

SOURCE: windshield wipers stopped working on 1998 Nissan Sentra

Water can enter and displace the grease in the wiper arm linkage ball joint where the wiper linkage attaches to the wiper motor linkage.

This can result in gradual wear over a period of time inside the joint that could lead to the separation of the wiper linkage assembly from the wiper motor linkage at the ball joint. A loss of windshield wiper function can result when this separation occurs.

To prevent grease from being washed out of the joint, the dealers will modify by adding a water diversion seal that will prevent water from entering the windshield wiper linkage ball joint area.

Where is the relay for the windsheild wipers on a 2004 f-550

The windshield wiper relay on a 2004 Ford F-550 is typically located in the fuse box under the hood. The fuse box is usually located near the front of the vehicle, on the driver's side. To find the windshield wiper relay, you will need to refer to your vehicle's owner's manual or a wiring diagram for the vehicle. The owner's manual should have a diagram of the fuse box that will show you the location of the windshield wiper relay. Alternatively, you can search online for a wiring diagram for your vehicle.

Once you have located the fuse box, you may need to remove a cover to access the fuses and relays. Look for a fuse or relay labeled "wiper" or "wiper relay" to find the windshield wiper relay. If you are having trouble finding the windshield wiper relay, you may want to consider consulting a mechanic or taking your vehicle to a dealership for assistance.

Wipers will not turn on 2006 colorado

There are two relay's in the under hood fuse / relay box . Wiper relay an wiper relay 2 . Maybe one is bad . also check fuse #14 25 amp. Wiper fuse.Plus the BCM - body control module has a hand in making the wipers work . Are you familiar with automotive electronic control modules ?
The Wiper/Washer System consists of the following components:
ā€¢ Windshield wiper/washer switch
ā€¢ Body control module (BCM)
ā€¢ Wiper micro relay
ā€¢ Wiper 2 relay
ā€¢ Wiper diode
ā€¢ Windshield wiper motor
ā€¢ Windshield washer pump
ā€¢ Windshield washer nozzles
ā€¢ Windshield washer solvent container
ā€¢ Windshield wiper arm and blade assemblies
ā€¢ Windshield wiper transmission
ā€¢ WIP/WASH 10A fuse
ā€¢ WIPER 25A fuse

Wiper/Washer System Description
The body control module (BCM) controls wiper motor low speed operation. The washer pump and high speed operation are controlled directly by the wiper/washer switch. The windshield wiper/washer switch supplies voltage on the signal circuits to the BCM for windshield wiper/washer operation. When WASH, MIST, DELAY, LOW, or HIGH is detected, the BCM energizes the wiper micro relay by suppling voltage to the relay coil. This allows battery voltage from the WIPER fuse to flow through the relay switched input then through the contacts and out the relay switched output to the wiper 2 relay switch contacts. Since the wiper 2 relay switch contacts are normally closed to the low speed circuit of the windshield wiper motor, the motor will operate at low speed.

Do you have any speed !

'07 Impala Wipers Work Intermittently

Did you check for voltage at the wiper fuse? My info says that fuse is hot all the time. Use a digital multimeter. Everything off, take a reading across battery posts, the generic spec for a full charge is around 12.6 volts. You should get close to same reading at the wiper fuse, hopefully. When checking voltage at the fuse, use chassis ground not the other leg of fuse. There are wiper relays, those are pcb relays, they are soldered into the fuse box, you can't pull them out. Your bcm is also involved with those relays. Your multifunction switch basically tells the bcm you turned on your wipers, then the bcm controls voltage or ground for the relays. You can see wire color for hi and lo speed voltage. Maybe a problem with fuse box or wiring circuit if voltage is low? I hope this was of some help?

Replacing wiper linkage

WINDSHIELD WIPERS

It can be faulty wiper motor or blown wiper control fuse.

Do you hear any kind of noise when you starter the wiper function. If yes then fuse is ok, but issue is wiper motor.

If no movement at all and no noise then its blown fuse or shorted/loose wiper control wiring: -----

For complete troubleshooting i suggest you few helpful links with accurate solutions.

Clicking noise coming from relays in fuse box

Have you noticed any water or other signs of a leaking windshield under the dash. It sounds like you have a GEM module problem, it bolts to the back of the fuse/relay box. If it is from water damage you will need to replace the fuse box aswell as the GEM (generic electronic module) don't forget to reseal the windshield.
