As im driving my bike the clatter comes in around 3000 rpm and gets louder ans faster as i gain rpm. could it need valve adjustment? or what kind of problem does it sound like im having. its a 99 yamaha r1

if its valve chatter you will hear it just under the valve cover pretty pronounced, but usually valve chatter gets quieter as the bike warms up, you might look into your cam chain adjuster those get loud and chatty at higher rpms.

Some of the rocker arms are chattering on my 1995 pathfinder SE 3.0liter V6 4X4 i need to know exact specifications on tightening them back! PLEASE HELP!

Hi,

This engine and vehicle are fitted with hydraulic valve adjusters which means there is no clearance adjustments for them.
The trouble will be the lifters are either worn or have a blocked lubricating orifice.

Give it an engine flush and put in some new engine oil, this may help you out.

Thanks

Clattering. is it valves or rockers and how do i eliminate it? does it mainly when i first start it. 75k miles on the car. i was told the rockers should be tightened. is this true, and how do i go about...

use an engine flush when changing oil/filter use only 10/40 semi synthetic oil(change every 10k)top end chatter occurs when engine is cold/oil not up to followers, but should stop about 30 secs after starting engine.there ARE NO adjustments AT ALL.if chattering persists, then top end rebuild req.
the person who told you about "rockers"should learn about self adjusting valve followers....

My 98 ZX2 has what sounds like valve clatter

The fuel injectors in the ZX2 are very loud. They have a high metallic clicking sound. This is often mistaken for valve chatter but since we don't have adjustable valves, you likely don't have chatter.

Hi i have a McCulloch chainsaw 2818av just need to know how to turn the idle up

Page 7 Item 22. Below the "H" & "L" needle valves (items 20 & 21).

If the chain chatters it is to fast or the clutch needs repair. I think CCW is faster, make small adjustments, blip the throttle let it settle.
On the engine cover there are often 3 holes for needle valve adjustment. Idle is usualy marked "T".
If you have an Owner's Manual the location is usually displayed somewhere within. I could not find an on line OM. HTH

Any chance the valve spring has collapsed? Cam shaft thrust washers missing? Cam shaft bearing gone bad?

My valves are chattering when i start my bike

Hi,

If you have recently serviced the bike, make sure that you have used the correct grade of motor oil.

Alternately, it is necessary to adjust the valve clearances at regular service intervals

New rebuild chatters

adjust your valves your oil pickup tube needs to be adjusted you need feeler guages to adjust the valves down properly
make sure lifters and oil pick up tubes are not clogged

feeler guage is---> thin pieces of metal cut to different sizes to hold under valve adjusters till the play and chatter gone
check by book what the feeler size needed for adjustment
