Ignition fuse blowing, speedometer not marking, and neutral light

Under a load @ high rpm close to rev limiter, ignition fuse blows. Also speedometer is not reading, and neutral light is not coming on. Bike will only start with kickstand up. All this happened on the same day.

SOURCE: 1998 Honda Goldwing will not start nothing.

Sort of sounds like a Twilight Zone kind of problem doesn't it. I would have the battery checked for an internal dead short. This is something that happens on odd occasions and can happen even to a new battery. Yea, the little lights will work ( they do not draw much juice ), but the starter motor draws a lot of juice and a shorted battery just ain't got it. Also check the wiring harness connections. One loose connection can cause bunches of trouble.

SOURCE: GSXR 750 Slingshot wont rev past 5000rpm, with or without choke

I have seen this before a few things to do too make sure. First take the air filter out and shine a light use your fingers to move the slides up and down I suspect the springs that go on the slide is not seated in center you can tell from the slide going halfway and hanging up. Next, the boots on the slides only go on 1 way there is a notch on the carbs for them. I would guess this would fix you up if not we can get deeper into it with air-fuel mix screw settings.good luck

SOURCE: Will not rev over 8000 rpm

This is hard to tell without riding it to feel the condition. Here are a few things that come to my mind.

1 Spark plugs or ignition system not able to handle the higher demands of the higher RPMs

2 battery or charging system not creating enough power to meet the higher demands of the bike (ignition and fuel systems)

3 Fuel flow to the carbs is low or the main jet is clogged.

4 valve adjustment and or valve timing

I have a Yamaha fz 6 and when I jumped it off today went about 1/4 mile and lost all power to my speedometer, blinkers work but it blows fuses to ignition every time I turn key on.

I once had a Suzuki that blew fuses due to vibration at high rpm so I put in a circuit breaker. The type I used reset itself. If your fuse blows asap then you need a short detector. They are cheap and instructions to use them on youtube.

Victa mustang tecumseh just had service done please explain what this means:checked max rpm reset rpm to oem limitsthanks

A gasoline engine is made to rev up only so fast. If it revs or speeds up too fast it will blow up. Each engine has a rpm limit. There are springs and settings on the carb that controls this and you should not have to worry about it if some one has checked it out. They are just making sure your engine will not rev up too high.

Have 1999 cavilleir does it have a rpm protecter

Yes, the PCM for your vehicle's engine has a rev/speed limit seeting programmed into it. Most stock, non high performance/police package vehicles usually won't go above a top speed of 97MPH. if you were to rev your engine while it was in park or neutral, once the engine reaches the cut out rpm limit preset in the PCM, it will cause the engine to cut back, then it will rev up until it hits the preset limit, then cut back, and it keep repeating that pattern. It may sound as though you have a high rev ignition failure that sounds like waaa, waaa, waaa, waaa, but that indicates the PCM is doing its job.

My ford contour 2.0L Fi Automatic- can't go more

The vehicle has a rev limiter. Will it rev over 3500 when you drive it? If no, then I would guess that the exhaust might be partially restricted. But the engine computer won't allow you to free rev the engine that high in park and neutral.

Flickering charge light on dash when RPM's are above 2000. At about 4000 RPM's enginge stumbles.

Sounds like a diode might be going bad in the alternator. If you rev the engine in park or neutral the computer has a rev limiter that kicks in at 4000 rpms. That is normal, it is trying to keep the engine from blowing up. I'd have the alternator checked, it might check ok but be leaking ac voltage.

Does a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport have a "governor?" Just wondering because when the vehicle is in neutral or park the RPM will not go above 3000 but it will go higher if in drive.

This is called a rev. limiter. Most vehicles are equipped with these to prohibit over-revving in neutral and to protect the engine from damage. Its not a governor.

1994 honda magna fuse troubles

Check for shorts to the stator or rotor. It is part of the charging system under the left side cover. Sometimes they can get shorted out, and cause the fuse to blow. If you disconnect the plug for it, you can also test to see if the fuse still blows. If it doesn't, you have found your problem. You may need to unplug things and keep checking your fuse. When it stops blowing, you have found your problem. May want to get a resettable breaker till you find your problem.

In neutral car is not going more then 4000 rpm

The 300M is equiped with a rev-limiter. The technology is designed to protect the engine. It keeps you from blowing it up when it has no load on it...If it is driving and shifting ok, and you have no check engine light on...there is nothing wrong.
Why would want to rev the engine past 4000 rpm in neutral anyway? Max torque comes in around 3950 RPM...
If you keep reving it up in neutral you might throw the computer in to LIMP mode, then you wont go no where.
Hope this answers your question...

998 cutting out at 9000rpm

so I don't think it should be the rev limiter at 9k. It's not bouncing like a rev limiter it just stops firing the cylinders and the comes back again when the throttle is released. It has the stock 996r ECU. Since I got it I've fitted a smaller battery to make room for frame sliders. Could this cause the bike to cut out earlier? It cuts out then runs fine again. The other things I can think of is fuel delivery. But I'm not sure the symptom is correct for that? Any thoughts would be appreciated. In any case I'll put the stock battery back on to see if that helps, but I wont know the answer until next Friday when I'm going to the track,I recently had a problem with one of my Guzzis acting like that at 6k RPM. Always at 6k RPM, but only under load. Ended up being a restricted air intake. Really strange, because it acted just like a rev-limiter. So, does it only act this way under load, or also if you just rev the bike in neutral? If it's a limiter problem or tach error, it should still have the problem even with no load. If the problem is only under load, then it's either a fuel or air problem.,,,
