Yamaha srx600 kickstart seized

My yamaha lost power on the way home the oyher day. I pulled the clutch and pulled in. all electrics seemed ok. I went to kickstart the bike but the lever would not move. I have taken the engine out and once the cylider head is removed the kickstart operates nice and smoothly. i bolt the head on by hand and once again the kickstart will move a little then seize. Does anyone seen this problem before and tell me where to look for the problrm?

Check your 2 stroke oil reservoir, got a feeling it's bone dry. If so your cylinder is scored and will need some machining, new piston and rings....Good luck to you friend...Tim

Snowmobile ran great all day but seemed to run different on the way home. The next day I went to start it and I couldn't pull the rope. I assumed it was locked up but not sure now.

From what you have described, you may have seized the engine. The brakes grabbing you mention may have been the pistons grabbing the bore. Do you have oil left in the engine after this happened?

Hi, Ben_paice before testing any electrical component in the Starter Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test because your battery may have 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amps causing the battery to be faulty and must be replaced, especially "AGM" batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
4. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
5. FOB battery low or dead.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Security alarm needs a reset.
10. Starter relay, solenoid, starter have failed or circuit wiring faulty.
11. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
12. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
13. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
14. Check for engine trouble codes.

Sounds like the piston seized.
Pull the spark plug and hand crank the engine if the piston moves up and down with little effort your ok but if you have a lot of resistance top end rebuild needed.

Rear wheel locked while riding, gearbox seems fine as it will go into neutral and through the other gears. Kickstart now wont go down as it seems jammed ?

sounds like you have something lose or broken in gearbox..or clutch or kickstart workings.....i would not ride this bike till you know for sure whats up & its fixed!!....1st thing to try is take clutch cover off & inspect to see if you can see anything broke ..this does need pulling down to sort as the bike may well do again when riding may even need to pull the gearbox.cluster out/in bits to check..this means engine out & pull in bits......

Was riding ttr125 down road then rear wheel looked up. cant move kickstart at all. has it seized motor ?

It does sound like the engine has locked up, sorry. If you pull in the clutch does the rear wheel turn? If it does that means the engine has seized.

My bike has seized but the piston is fine and nothing blocking kickstart or clutch. what else could it be?

You say the bike seized up but the piston is okay. Did the engine seize up or did it lock up? I need to clear up some terminology. A piston will seize up due to lack of oil. It basically welds to the cylinder wall. When the piston cools the metal contracts and often will be able to move once again. Assuming the kick start and piston seem to be operating normally, if you pull in the clutch lever, will the bike roll when pushed? If it will not roll, then the gearbox is locked up. Get back to me by posting a comment with what you find and I will be glad to help identify the cause and the fix needed.

could be a few different things...a seized top end...the kickstarter gear is damaged... the transmission(not clutch) is damaged
