Only starts and runs on full choke will not stay running with choke off

When you try to place the choke in the half choke position it quits and only will stay running if you leave it fully choked

Simple solution your weed-eater has a Walbro carb buy a rebuild kit and rebuild the carb and it will run like new, don't touch any screw settings on the carb. You can purchase from your local repair center just give them the number on your carb and they will give you the correct kit. Go to smalleng.com they have a video on just this issue. Good Luck.. you are right, check your fuel filter, fresh gas and clean your carb out,also check your exhaust screen for being plugged, also a bad fuel cap could cause this, if the cap is not venting

SOURCE: 25cc weedeater gas leaf blower starts and runs on full choke only and then if I raise it upo run a little faster it will die. solution??

carb diaphram is probable bad.

if the choke needs to stay on to run it then there is a plugged jet in the carb

Hi,

Please make sure that you're running the generator outside and that you've placed it in a position that's recommended by the manufacturer. I'm thinking that there is a safety protection (shutdown) being triggered by your generator because something is not setup properly.

Choke trigger on the handle will not lock to start the chainsaw
more information please..

To lock the choke on:-
1. depress dead mans trigget on top of back handle
2. squeeze throttle trigger fully in.
3. slide on switch fully down to 'full choke' position. 'it should stay there'.
4. Pull saw over until it fires once.
5. click 'on' switch up one position to 'half choke'
6. pull saw over again, saw should start running and be revving high.
7. 'blip' throttle, saw should stop revving and run on tick over.

Full choke, stop switch on run. Pull rope handle 3-4 times or more until it "tries to start" (it will not start, but it will try to for a split second) move the choke lever to the half-choke position and without pulling the throttle, poll the rope handle until the engine fires and runs for 4-5 seconds then fully open the choke to the run position, let it warm up for 25-30 seconds (don't forget to let it cool down about 45-60 seconds before you turn it off!) and then proceed to use it.

Trimmer won't stay running
Most likely needs the carb rebuilt.

First check the prime bulb and fuel lines for cracks. Check the spark arrestor for carbon buildup.

Another problem could be a stuck piston ring, but try rebuilding the carb first as it is usually the source of the problem.

Gas Trimmer will not stay started
Many times with a gas mix, after sitting for a while, the mix separates and gums up the carb. Taking the carb off and soaking it overnight in a parts or carb cleaner and running carb cleaner through the tank and gas lines will cure this.
