Question about 2005 Honda VT 750 DC Shadow Spirit
I was riding my 2005 honda spirit750 and had to flip to reserve that's when the backfiring and rough running occurred barely made it home any ideas? My friend has the same bike so we swapped the icm but that was not the culprit Could it be in the carb?
Yes tht could be the carburator since the dirt / fine rust tht settles at the bottom of the tank has found its way in to the carb.
Clean the carbs. and replace the in-line filter.
Water in gas could also be it, since water floats and you had reached the gas to reserve the water may have found its way to the carbs and thus the rough running and back firing .

Tips for a great answer:
it sounds like its starving for fuel, when it runs lean you will get backfires and if its running rough then it may be starving for fuel at idle. Try adjusting you mixture screw and see it the engine will smoot out. Your carb my be dirty and not allowing enough fuel through it.
