Have a 2009 Yukon 5.3 motor it has a lifter tick at startup sometimes really loud sometimes not is there a service bulletin. It has AFM lifters I think that has something to do with it.

I have cured just a few using a real AC Delco filter and synthetic 5w-30 oil. GM recommends using only 5w-30 oil in your engine because other weights can cause air to get into the lifters during start up and cause lifter noise.

Oil pump/engine ticking

I would go with the previous owners seldom changed
the oil & you bought a car with issues your not going to fix

( You checked the oil & it was thick, that told you what I
just said)

But you knew or expected as much, right !!

No vehicle uses 10W-30 oil in the last 25 years

Go with 0W or 5W-20 or 5W-30 & a half quart
of Marvel Mystery Oil

Mobil 1 Full/Syn

After that-- not much you can do except pull it
apart

What Is The Best Motor Oil For A 1996 Nissan Quest

AMSOIL 5W-30 Signature Series 100% synthetic motor oil or Mobil 1 5W-30 Extended mileage are probably the best 2 synthetics. Depending on the mileage, you might be better off with using a standard 5W-30 non-synthetic oil and just change it regularly.

Toyota glanza 1.3 turbo i have a ticking noise coming out of the top of my engine it only came in when i changed oil and filter today

That ticking is from the lifters... it's normal for them to tick for a few seconds, but it should go away once the oil gets up there.

Did you use a heavy enough oil? did you check to make sure you put enough oil in? If you put in a 0W or a 5W when the car recommends 5W or 10W, you'll also get ticking...

Ticking in engine is this a problem a mechanic told me this is normal for this vechile

This is not normal, ticking .most of the time is lifter noise, change the engine oil,use 5w 30w oil only,do not very,if this does not help, change the oil,and go to 10w 40w weight motor oil,do not vary from this,it should use the 5w30w but sometimes the lifters will not prime up with the thinner oil,but they will with a little heavier oil,but not to heavy, the engine is designed to use the 5w30w,but ,the heat may make you have to go to the 10w40w oil.

Ticking first running runs for a while clears out but can still hear a little bit. if something needs adjust please help with specs v6 3.8L. didnt used to do this.

Have you changed the oil?If not,try changing the oil,be sure to use the correct weight motor oil,and a good filter no cheap filters,I think it uses 5w 30,in the warm months, try this first,if this does not help, have the lifters adjusted.

YEP BUT NOT REALLY.DO THIS LITTLE TEST.CHANGE OIL + OIL FILTER.BUY A BOTTLE OF MARVEL MYSTERY OIL FOR NOISEY VALVE LIFTERS.IF THIS DONT STOP THE LIFTER NOISE.LIFTERS ARE WORN.ALSO MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING 5W - 30 OR 10W - 30 MOTOR OIL.

It only ticks when i first start it. after it heats up the ticking gose away and the car runs great! i have added the stuff to my oil that is supost to stop the tick... dint work. any ideas??

Try 5w 30 synthetic oil and some marvel oil. Ticking is likely a lifter...as long as it dosen't get worse, it should be OK the way it is and using oil I said may after time get it to quiet down.(took time to get that way and takes time to get it better) If it does get worse, it will need replacement.
