The light flashes 8 times means there is a fault with the sender the wiring or the gauge pack. Unplug the sender positive lead on the green wire bue strip black lead, it should be around 12ohms empty sould be over 100 ohms. If it reads that check your wires and if the are good it is your gauge pack.

1if u can open your tank by removing the fuel then the pipe
u just check at your tank below, there will be small electrical wire stick to a sensor and at your fuel tank once u got the fuel sensor open it there is a float with lever.open gently without damaging the float and fuel seals for the sensor

Have a 1985 Honda GoldWing limited edition 1200 the fuel gauge reads empty but is full of fuel .can anyone tell me what to look for ?

Hi, Jay you could have a faulty sending unit or gauge, there could be a problem with your wiring. On models with the fuel gauge posing as a left-hand fuel cap the gauge is a press fit do not try to unscrew it, simply ample force lift up in a rocking motion to remove gauge. Disconnect wires to the gauge and with a set of positive and negative jumpers from the battery connect the positive jumper and flash the negative, gauge should peg full, if not replace the gauge. With a test light check for power to the sending unit, then remove the sending unit and manually operate the float arm slowly with the correct wiring hooked up to the fuel gauge and sending unit and the ignition on, the gauge should respond accordingly if not replace the float arm assembly. If your fuel gauge registers the incorrect amount of fuel in the tank you can try bending the float arm the necessary amount for a more accurate reading. Fuel gauge not working

You will need to test a number of things, the fuel gauge is part of a rather simple circuit.

Battery -> gauge -> tank sensor -> chassis ground to battery

If the circuit is broken at any of the steps, your gauge will read "empty". If the tank sensor is bad, it could read empty, or if the float in the tank has sunk, it will read empty.

I start at the gauge with a "test light" that glows when it sees battery voltage. Get a light at the connection to the gauge? Good. find the sensor connection, usually on top of the tank, accessible in the trunk. Probe with test light. Light on? Good. Connect wire to ground, gauge should read "full". If all that is as I said, then the tank sensor is bad. If you don't read battery at any step, you know where the problem is.

You have two pumps,I guess you know that ,if you already did one. Did you check fuel pressure at the rail and check out the electronic pressure regulator? What codes are coming up and do they stay set?

Have a 2001 gmc jimmy...drove home gas gauge read 1/4 tank..next day cranked over but wont start..gas gauge reads empty...put $10.00 from spare gas can..cranked over but no start ..gas gauge still reads...

chevy and gmc trucks have an on going problem with this, turn the key on,and get a rubber mallot or a hammer and hit the bottom of the fuel tank a couple of times, this will unstick something in the fuel pump/sending unit.
