I have two loose hoses coming off my petcock? where do they go

I dont know where the two little hoses attached to my petcock go on my 1982 honda silverwing gl500

neither do I. but here's some guesses. if it's a vacum tap, stays shut till motor running, then one of them will go to a carb or manifold, sometimes between the carbs to pick up vacum pressure. suction opens fuel tap to let gas through. or could be a balance pipe beetween two sides of fuel tank. have you taken the tank off? why are the hoses not connected?

On your silverwing you have a "vacuum operated petcock" which means that the carbs draw a vacuum and allow the fuel to flow from the petcock. The front hose is the vacuum hose that should run to the center of the carbs. The second is a drain hose - it's advised that you do have a small hose connect here, so that dirt does not find its way into the petcock. This hose will simply run down past the swing arm to the ground. This would prevent any gas from dumping itself onto the engine if your petcock fails. If your bike runs without the vacuum hose attached, your petcock has failed and will need to be rebuilt.

Those little hoses are just extensions to direct the draining away from the frame and other parts like chrome etc. don't plug them or hook yjem up to anything. :)

I need to take the fuel tank off of my 1982 yamaha maxim xj650, but i can't figure out how to. help please?

remove the hoses from petcock...remove seat then you'll see one or two bolts on rear of tank....remove them....pull the tank backwards and then you can lift it off.

Fuel petcock

The petcock is what the fuel flows through when it comes out of the gas tank. It probably includes: * A switch with positions for On, Off and Reserve. * A fuel line going to the carburetors. * A vacuum hose attachment which attaches to a carburetor which tugs on a rubber diaphram to let gas flow through. * An overflow/drip valve from the vacuum area. It's located right under the tank on the rear/left side.

Kawasaki ninja ex250 won't start

the petcock is vacuum operated, there should be a small hose just behind the larger fuel hose thats attached to the petcock. What it does is when the bike is cranking over it sends vacuum though this hose and operates a diaphram in the petcock causing fuel to be released in the fuel line. This is for people that don't turn the fuel off as far as I know. Anyway if you take the small line off and get another piece that fits there and turn the petcock on and **** on the small hose it should send fuel out the bigger fuel hose if it works correctly.

Hope this helps
