There is a cable that is connected to you speedometer and runs to the trans, disconnect it noting the route, take to any dealer or bike shop and give them the old one to match, just replace back in the same route you removed from.
NOTE: You may want to get a few zip tie's (downs) so you can secure a bit better than original..
Good luck.

THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING WHEN IT GETS HOT ON MY 2004 TRAIL BLAZER THANKS.

If everything else works ok, the vehicle drives normally, and all the other gauges are working then you may have a bad speedometer servo motor. This servo is what actually moves the speedometer needle to match the speed you are driving at. The cluster would need to come out and be repaired to fix this problem if this is the case.

My speedometer on my 2005 V6 mustang has stopped working - can i fix it myself - is it a cable, the teeth in the gear or what - i am a female and haven't worked on cars in years - so I need specifics like...

The speedometer on your car is electronically operated and uses information from the Powertrain Control Module to control the speedometer readout. There isn't a cable or drive system that operates them anymore. Because of the large number of possible causes for your problem you'll most likely need to have the problem diagnosed at a Ford dealer or a competent auto repair facility as there just isn't much you can do on it yourself. Hope this helps!

Speedometer

the circuit board on the back of the cluster often become loose. you can fix this by either resoldering the connections of getting another cluster if not new then a junk yard one. when your cluster stops working can you push on it and make it work again or smack the dash. if so resolder the board or have a junk yard one. i myself went to a junkyard and got one i had to beat up my dash to make it start working again.
