Question about Yamaha YZF-R15 Motorcycles
Posted by Anonymous on
I had the same problem with my ZX10R losing the master key to which all other keys need to be coded from and I am assuming that Yamaha might use a very similar system in which the key gives off a signal that is picked up from your bikes electrical system even before the key is placed into the key barrel if your key is not chipped and is a regular type key then one can be cut fairly simple or replace the key barrel with a new one and set of keys . But if you have lost the master key that codes all other keys for your bike then it can become a very expensive job running into the thousands of dollars easy because replacement of the security system that is integrated into the whole bikes computer and electrical system is a very complex and expensive system to replace . There are key coders that you might be able to use costing a few hundred dollars instead of thousands of dollars and without the need to replace your bikes whole security system as well as people that offer the service to recode your keys depending on the difficulties of your system . You will need to start looking on youtube for methods or devices or people that offer that type of service and start by searching for lost key transponders or key codes and then finding out if your system is compatible and can be given a new code and set of keys hopefully this will be the case because there isn't much of away around other than the very expensive total system replacement of your bikes security system . I have lost my master key and can not get any replacements cut and I have lost nearly all of the copied spare keys that were originally coded from the master key so I have attached a key permanently hidden on my bike that the transponder can pick up as a signal and I use a normal key to fit in and turn the key barrel as normal without the fear of losing the coded key , as well adding a few anti theft devices of my own like a hidden cut off switch , disc brake lock with alarm etc so I can make key copies at any key cutting place for a few dollars .

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: which is the good bike
Yamaha, as long as you don't buy a "grey" import. There are just too many issues with the Pulsar regarding after sales support regardless of where you are situated.
A Grey import is a Yamaha bike that was not imported to your country by Yamaha itself which means that Yamaha agents will not sell you OEM spares.
As for reliability the Yamaha once again comes out on top although it is the more expensive machine.
