Question about 2000 kawasaki GTR 1000

3 Answers

My 2000 Kawasaki concours gets 33 mpg from mostly freeway driving. I've heard Concours owners say they get over 40 mpg. What kind of mileage should I expect. I would like to hear from other Concours owners to see if I need to troubleshoot a low mpg condition. Even when I drive conservatively the result is always 33 mpg.

The Connie is a big heavy bike and your mileage is average. Are you using premium fuel? are your tires properly inflated? Are you doing 75 or 65 on the freeway ? All these factor into good mileage....and remember some of the other guys don't know how to equate proper mileage numbers and others love to fudge their numbers just to make you feel bad.......most inline 4 cylinder bikes return mileage in the 30s...Good luck to you and enjoy your bike, it is a fine machine.....tim

I have a 1990 Connie. I used to get that kind of mileage for years. I was like you. I just thought it got bad mileage. It ran ok, but I thought it should have been better. When I bought it, the guy told me he had just had the carbs rebuilt. I synced them, still low mileage. Last monday, I rebuilt the carbs myself, installed them and checked the sync. (a couple of the floats were way off) It ran better than it ever has. I went to Bikes, Blues and BBq in Arkansas. I drove mostly 65 or 70 on the hiways. I got alittle over 45 mpg round trip, uncluding stuck in traffic in town driving. I did not hot rod too much but did a bit.
I think you have a problem.
If you know someone with a Connie, ask to ride his. See if it feels the same and ask him what mileage he gets.

When you first get a used bike, give it a tune up clean the carbs and air filter, check tire air pressure, maybe get rid of the old gas, and if your realy adventures grease it up and check wheel bearings my concours gets up to 270 mpg on primary tank.also check for vacume leaks.

My abs pump went out on my 2009 concours. The part number is 16082-0023. I found a pump that looks just like it but it's part number 16082-0707.. This pump is from a 13-14 Kawasaki zx14R.

Hi, Eddie after careful deliberation 4 out 5 Kawasaki Gods give this one a thumbs down, there is a reason there are 2 different part numbers but just to be on the safe side you should give your local dealer's parts/service department a call to confirm. Good luck and have a nice day.
