If it's a stock bike, you can change the air breather, carburator, camshafts, and exhaust systems. Lots of High Performanc parts available if legal in your area.

I have 16" ape hangers on my bike and when I'm ridding solo I get speed wabbles around 70-80 mph. But when I have a passanger that weighs 100+pounds on the back I can hit triple digits no problem, and with...

Put a 90/90 21inch, I had a front end replaced and the front tire was a 100, which has a smaller profile . Don't stand as tall and is smaller, put 90/90x 21 and balance wheel/tire, problem gone for me !

What could be wrong?

I would check ALL electrical connections paying special attention to the charging system. Sounds like a loose connection somewhere if I does it when you bit bumps.

1983 yamaha venture royale 1200--- no power on high end. runs great at idle and going thru the gears up to 50mph then sluggish after that. changed the air filter, gas filter, plugs and brand new non...

good maintnance what you did. but these bikes lacked power in high gear and I used to always have to gear down and pick up more spead. remember that they are a touring bike so you shouldn't even be in 5th at 50mph. try this build enough speed and stay in 4th and don't go up to 5th unless you hit at least 60mph or a bit more. I have an 04 now and guess what, they are all the same you gotta build enough speed before 5th, I toped the 110mph on mine just last week. moral of story, don't treat them like normal cruisers, stay in 3d gear when around town. 4th is just as you get on the freeway and 5th is only for freeway.
I hope this helps.

2002 Chevy Impala, the back end slides to the right when driving

Your shocks are probably blown. You can tell this by looking at the tell tell signs of the fluid stains coming from the top inside of shocks onto the outside of the lower part.

4 and 5 speed tranny for corolla 2e

When looking for a "faster" transmission you need to check the actual individual gear ratios of each gearbox and match anticipated rpm to available peak torque of the engine. This gets a bit complicated but likely if you speak with anyone who drag races a similar vehicle they can hook you up with charts & formulas. As far as top speed goes, that's all determined by your engine and differential/tire combination as all units are 1:1 in fourth gear (fifth gear is overdrive and may give you slightly more top end) For a street car, there are far easier ways of wringing out a bit more performance.

Sluggish in Mountains

my top speed was 53 mph. I live at 130 feet above sea level and the passes we went over were around 5400 and 4000 feet. The other riders figured it was the carb. I agreed but wonder if this is just the way it is going to be for my 2006 Ridley on the passes or is there something that can be done so I get normal performance and speeds all the time no matter the elevation? Once again the Ridley was the center of attention at every stop we made even with my fellow riders who were on BMW's and Harley's. I forgot my chicken feed but I never get tired of talking about my Ridley (your Ridley). Prior to this ride of 400 miles 90 miles was my longest round trip. I feel like a changed person. I'm the guy with MS and when I got home I had this calm yet confident feeling that I didn't have when I left. My Harley riding friend with 30+ years of riding did not need an explanation when I talked to him this afternoon. I was pretty sore this morning but went for a long walk to pick up my youngest at school, sort of similar to the light workouts on Sunday's following college football games some 24 year ago, and I feel just fine this evening. I must again convey my heart felt thanks to the Ridley family for making this bike and providing the opportunity for those of us who now ride, that may never have had it, had it not been for the Ridley Auto-Glide.,As with all engines with carburetors, you pick an altitude and tune the carb. If you will be at higher elevations more than lower you could jet the carburetor for better high altitude performance. Fuel injected engines have a computer that adjusts fuel flow as the altitude changes.,,,
