Honda cb750 f2 1978fault on old bike ! electrical problem

Hi, Can anyone help ? when running at speed for a while if I shut throttle down fully (and i think mainly suddenly) the engine stops and all electrics die totally. No electrics, (no lights, ingition, power) no nothing. Pull bike up and about 30 seconds later electrics return and off again. Bike has just been put back on the road after a couple of years stored in a garage. Just had a new battery whoch is fully charged. did cut out for fractions of a second when running at speed a couple of times. Definately electrical and not fuel. Hoping to use bike or holiday so urgent help appreciated. Thanks ! honday 750 f2 not 1992 but cant find that model.

From your explanation it sure sounds electricals, but surprising to hve a total failure to the electricals and thn it reappears after 30seconds!
Best would be to go through the wiring especially frm the battery onwards, the fuse box .
Since it is totally disappearing it should be a fault to those main wires could be lose connections somewhere!.
Hope this helps.

Hello all, I was just wondering how to fix an apparent open throttle on a 1982 Honda cb750 Nighthawk 750?

I suspect that the throttle cable is out of the end setting from removing and replacing the carbs or a return spring for the cable has broken off and not pulling the throttle back to idle position

My 1993 Honda cb750 Nighthawk only clicks when I turn the key. what could it be?

Hi, Anonymous before testing any electrical component in the Starting System it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
4. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
5. FOB battery low or dead.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand, clutch, neutral safety switch.
9. Security alarm needs a reset.
10. Starter relay, solenoid, starter have failed or circuit wiring faulty.
11. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
12. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
13. Faulty ignition relay.
14. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
15. Check for engine trouble codes.

My Bike idles really high but only sometimes

Did you replace the throttle cable?, you might lubricate the cable. I had trouble with a bike having similar problem, this took care of my problem. I hope this helps
