It does this problem in any situation.Itested the power before the coils and the right side has constant power, and the left side which works fine all the time flashes on my test like for the spark plugs.I tested both sides to the spark plugs.Left side is fine right side only sparks when I shut of the key orstop button, just once.Have new plugs and wires. And anew ignition....

Thanks cheezomlet, Iv gone thrue most all the wireing. And definatly all the grounds.I just went to shop,It fired rite up.Im new to these 4 cylender rice rockets. This problem dosent seem to happen when its cold. I pulled the cover on left side were the timing chain is.Could either one or the other of the (not sure what there called) sqare modduels be intermitanly be causing this problem?

Does it do this idling or while driving?
Where are you testing the power on the coil?
I would drain the carbs, check the plugs..

Its definitely sounds like ignition parts or wiring... What parts did you replace on the ignition? I am not sure on the ninja 1000, but some of the Kawi's use 2 pulse (pickup) coils off the flywheel/magneto, You can do a simple Ohm test on these (if applicable).
You can also try swapping the HV coils around to eliminate those.
Then of course the ignition module, or CDI ...
I am sure you probably checked all your grounds and connections...

Sounds like your on the right track.. the little square boxes, are there 2? if so they are the Pulse coils, or pickup coils.
I would try changing them first. If its intermittent, they may have proper resistance if you test them. You can pick some up on ebay fairly cheap.
I Own and work on the Kawi's. That bike has tons of power! I had the ZX-11, and own the ZX-12r currently..... Power houses!

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
4. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose.
5. Faulty ignition coil or ignition / electronic module

Hi, Peter and the usual suspects are:

3. Loose or corroded battery terminals and or cables especially the "NEGATIVE" cable, look for loose, corroded, or broken connectors inside the cable harness at "BOTH" ends.
4. Failed main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Failed system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Failed ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Failed CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Throttle cables and or idle speed improperly adjusted hot idle speed should be 950 RPM to 1000 RPM.
9. Fuel tank empty.
10. Fuel tank contaminated with ethanol sludge.
11. Water or dirt in the fuel system, or clogged filter.
12. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.

check your timing, check that your ignition pick up coil is good. also check your fuel pressure. and check for any vacuum leaks. double check your coolant temp sensor to the ecm it tells the ecm what temp it is and the ecm adjusts the fuel amount accordingly.

I have a 1982 Kawasaki GPZ750 R1 and about every 1000 miles the right side ignition coil goes bad. I have replaced it once and the previous owner replaced it several times. The coil will only last for...

this shouldnt be an ongoing problem, coils occasionally fail, but not usually again and again.
Check all connections.
check battery voltage when running 13-14 v
When you replace the coil, replace the plug caps as well( they have a resister in them)
Make sure the spark plug gaps are correct

Does not have fire on the 2 & 3 cylinders.Plug wires do nnot have fire. How do I check the coil to see if it needs replaced. This is a 1978 KZ 1000 A2.

Cilinders 1 and 4 are on the same coil, so as the 2 and 3 on the other coil.
Remove all spark plugs from engine and plug them in the spark plug leads and against the engine
To check coils easily: switch the low voltage wires from coil 2-3 to coil 1-4.
No spark at 1 and 4 is a sign that the coil is broken.
No sparks at 2-3 is a sign that the ignotion switchbox is broken, or the pick-up coils for 1-4.
Here also, switch the wires of the pick up coils. If allways the same plugs sparks, the switchbox is broken. If the other plugs sparks, then the pick-up coil is broken...

Hope it helps

Probably a gas delivery problem to the carbs. Check the lines and check for a filter in the line or at the carbs. Something is stopped up and it can't get enough gas to go any rpms.
