Hi, Anonymous before testing any electrical component in the Light Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test because your battery may have 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amps causing the battery to be faulty and must be replaced, especially "AGM" batteries, also before diagnosing any turn signal/running light/parking light issue make sure the bulb is good and the light fuse has continuity with a test light. If you have replaced your OEM lights with one or all LED lights you are going to need a load equalizer.
If no turn signals work the cause could be a faulty turn signal module or the connector going to it, look for corroded, loose, or broken pins/sockets. Contact spray cleaner is great for removing corrosion.
If all four turn signals flash at the same time like hazard lights even though you only pressed one turn signal button then you have a LED light in the circuit and need a load equalizer that can be purchased from any motorcycle parts supplier.
If your speedometer does not function properly it will have to be fixed first because your turn signal module gets the data from the speedometer for normal turn signal function.
If your front turn signals don't work use a test light to check for power and ground at the bulb socket, then start backtracking the wiring through every wire connector to the turn signal switch/button and check for continuity, go all the way back to the fuse if necessary to find the cause of the malfunction.
If your rear turn signals don't work check your rear fender wiring harness connector first for corroded, broken, loose pins/sockets, power, and a good ground, the harness connector is usually located under the seat on the front of the rear fender then keep tracing the wiring look for obvious harness damage caused by the rear tire.
If you still can't find the malfunction backtrack from the rear fender wiring harness connector.
If one side does not work you could have a faulty turn signal switch or module check for continuity.

SOURCE: Rear right turn signal acts as a running light.

Make sure and replace the lamp with the exact same one as the working side. Sounds like their is a mismatch in the lamps of some sort.
If one of the filliments is burnt out this will happen. Just like in car blinkers. Or it will blink fast. Hope this helps.. Happy Holidays. Jay

SOURCE: my left turn signal on

Is it the front or rear? Check the other left turn signal..if one bulb is burned out, the other will stay on constant. If that's not the problem, it could be the turn signal relay, usually mounted on the fuse panel.

sounds like a poor ground issue, pull out the headlight and check all connections in there, your turn signals are on seperate feeds than the lights but they will probably share the same ground/earth in the headlight

One light is brighter because the turn signal light wire is switched with the running light wire. The wires are color coded should be an easy fix. As for the fast blink, if you have put led lights on the signals you will have to also add a diodes to correct the fast blink.

2008 Cadillac SRX Why do right turn signals flash much faster than left? All bulbs are illuminated.

The turn signals on your vehicle are computer controlled by the BCM - body control module . The first place to start would be to hook up a scan tool that can access BCM DTC'S an data Parameters. If all the turn signal bulb's are good .
Turn Signal Lamps
Ground is applied at all times at G201 to the turn signal/multifunction switch. The turn signal lamps may only be activated with the ignition switch in the ON or START position. When the turn signal/multifunction switch is placed in either the TURN RIGHT or TURN LEFT position, ground is applied to the body control module (BCM) through either the right turn or left turn signal switch circuit. Battery voltage is applied at all times to the BCM. The BCM then applies a pulsating voltage to the front and rear turn signal lamps. Ground for the front turn signal lamps is supplied at G104. The left rear turn signal lamp is supplied ground at G402 and the right rear turn signal lamp is supplied ground at G401.
High resistance some where in the turn signal circuit could also cause this type problem . Doing voltage drop testing on the circuit would find a problem of high resistance .

1996 3500 sierra left signal causes all lights to flash

Well, you're dealing with a short. If the right turn signal only works the right side bulbs, you know you're issue must be in the switch. The only way left turn signal would light the right side, but the right signal would not light the left is if you added a diode, which I doubt is the case. So the switch itself is suspect. That or a wiring issue. If you just bought the truck, and this is an existing issue I'd suspect wiring. If it just started doing this I'd suspect the switch.

I would check to make sure someone didn't monkey with the wires and switch the left turn signal with the hazard lights or something (do your hazard lights happen to flash only the left turn signals?). If it has or had an aftermarket alarm you need to check their work and see what may be screwed up. Alarm systems often tap into the parking lights, which will look like all 4 turn signals, but are actually dimmer filaments. Flashing the parking lights would actually make your radio flash too, so I'm kind of leaning this way. Can't say for sure on limited information though.

2002 hd 1400 has a #2 code showing up will not clear

If you've got that Engine light coming On for 4 seconds, Off 4 seconds then On 8 seconds then out, its historic. (there WAS a problem that has now cleared)
If its On 4, Off 4 then remains On its a 'current' code.

I never heard of a #2 code.....they are read as a two digit code.

Here's one method some use to clear all codes:

Disarm alarm if so equipped.
Run/Off switch to OFF
Ignition Key: ON,OFF,ON,OFF,ON (and leave ON)
Press LEFT turn signal switch TWICE. Wait for 1 or 2 flashes..
Press RIGHT turn signal switch ONCE => turn signal will flash 1 time
Press RIGHT turn signal switch ONCE => turn signal flashes 2 times
Press RIGHT turn Signal switch ONCE => turn signals flash 3 times
TO CLEAR ANY CODES,,,=> PRESS & HOLD LEFT signal switch for 5 seconds. => turn
signal will now flash twice to confirm memory is clear.
Turn ignition OFF.

I trying to locate the turn signal flasher relay module

Makes no diff left or right turn, there's one flasher under the dash next to steering columb. Possibly in the fuse panel, but I don't think so. Turn the switch on and flip the signal, listen for the relay/flasher to be clicking. That's the easy way to find it. Even if all you can do is feel the unit flashing. Pull it down and change it. Just plugs into the accessory block.

Turn off alarm without key fob

First off, you need to know the PIN.
Setting the PIN is as follows:

Think of a five-digit PIN, and write it down. Think of this set of numbers as a password for starting your bike and disabling the alarm during those times when you don't have your fob.
Turn the ignition key on, then off, then on, then off, then on again. Then press the left turn-signal switch twice. Press the right turn-signal switch once, and the current PIN should appear in your odometer.
Be sure the first digit of the PIN is flashing. Enter the first digit of your new PIN by pressing the left turn signal to cycle through the numbers.
Press the right turn signal once to switch to the second digit, and select the correct number with the left turn signal. Repeat this process until your new PIN is entered correctly.
Press the right turn signal once, then turn the ignition key off to save the PIN you selected.

Now, how to disable:

Let's assume for simplicity that your code is set at 31313 and you wish to use the manual disarm of the security system using the directional switches as if you lost your fob and cannot disarm the system.

Your security system will disarm the bike and it cannot be started without deactivating the system first.

If you are unsure of what the manual code is refer to the top of this page or check with your dealer and set one if it has not been set by them.

Again this is based on your code being 31313 just to make it easier to understand.

1. Turn the ignition to Accessory.

2. Press both turn signals. (security light should flash rapidly)

3. Press left turn signal button 3 times (the 1st "3" of the PIN). Press right turn signal button 1 time (to "set" the code number).

4. Press left turn signal button 1 time (2nd number of PIN). Press right turn signal button 1 time.

5. Press left turn signal button 3 times. Press right turn signal button 1 time.

6. Press left turn signal button 1 time. Press right turn signal button 1 time.

7. Press left turn signal button 3 times. Press right turn signal button 1 time.

Security light stops flashing and security system is disarmed.

If you've changed the number, use your new number instead of 31313.

1993 Dodge Shadow...left turn signal won't flash

If the fuses are good and the front and rear bulbs are good, change the flasher for the turn signals, even tho the right is working. If that doesn't fix the problem, it might be in the turn sgnal switch on the steering column.
If both bulbs are good for the backup lights and fuses are good, then the backup light switch, which is screwed into the side of the transmission has to bad.

hi, i have a problem with my cbr 1100 xx 98model with a rough running, spluttering in just highway speeds when im crusing,it starts easy warm or cold and runs fine on idle and runs nice up to 60 kmh and runs fine after 6or7000 rpm and up to rev limiter but difficoult crusing 60 up to relative high speeds in high gears. runs fine in low gears in town. the fuelconsumtion seams to be some high at crusing speed that indicates that is rich mixture but it runs better at crusing speed if i pull the chocke a little that indicates lean mixture, i know this sound stupid but this is true so i was thinking the fuel is not properly mix with the air, more like drops than mix with air maybe? sparkplugs looks nice light brown. carbs and petcock have be cleaned many times, new sparkplugs, the ht leads looks good. it changes the speed it splutter at to higher speed if i shim the needles higher but if they too high i can almost not take off bcoz too much fuel at small trottleopening and black smoke from the exaust, my bike dnt have needles with groves for a clip thats why i shim them instead. a bikemechanic friend he told he have some simelar problem on a yamaha tdm 850 before and first when he change the nozzle in the carb that the needle goes in to it was cured, the nozzles was oval worn he told and its a problem on downdraft carbs he thinks, but on the xx carbs the nozzle is not specified as sparepart and its pressed in to the carbbody, my nozzle looks a little bit oval on atleast 2 of the carbs if looking closely or maybe only imagination in my eyes, im not sure. do someone had problem with the nozzles in the carbs before? i have cleaned the carbs and petcock many times, the airfilter is some dirthy but its worse without filter so its for sure not bcoz of the filter, the bike have a twobros 4in1 exaust and i have try 140,145 and 150 mainjets, but the problem is not with mainjet circut i think for sure. i had be very happy if someone could have a solution for this bcoz the bike is only irritating to use now and have be more or less the same all the time since i bought it. hope someone can help get my bird flying as it should do! thanks in advance!
