See the big cover with 5 screws directly under the seat?
That accesses the clutch push rod adjustment, and oil can be added through there.

SOURCE: wondering does the primary chain get

The primary on all late model bikes (1985 and later) are known as "wet primaries" because they have their own lube in them. The newer bikes like yours came with H-D's Syn3 20W50 oil in the primary.

To change the oil, stand the bike up as straight as safely possible. Remove the derby cover. You'll see the clutch assembly. Notice the outer clutch drum is made of aluminum. Inside that is a black disc. This is the clutch diaphragm spring.

To drain the primary, remove the drain plug at the rear of the primary on the bottom. Replace the drain plug and refill the primary with oil until it's just to the bottom of this diaphragm spring. Usually 38-44 ounces. Do not overfill as too much oil will make your clutch drag.

SOURCE: i know where to add

On the underside of the primary all the way to the rear of the primary just under the clutch area is a pipe plug. Remove the plug to drain the oil. To refill the primary, remove the round derby cover from the primary over the clutch. Stand the bike straight up and fill the primary with 20W50 engine oil until the level just comes to the bottom of the clutch drum. Do not overfill or the clutch will drag.

Good Luck

Need recipe to make pasta

Tips for Optimum Pasta
The dough should be evenly kneaded, and slightly moist to form a soft malleable dough. The dough should have the consistency which is not too dry or too moist.

The dough is too dry if it has a powdery, grainy consistency and breaks into small chunks. Add more liquid (water or vegetable juice) by the teaspoon until it has formed a smooth, malleable dough that is not sticking to the sides or the kneading spiral.

The dough is too moist if large lumps of dough remain stuck to the kneading spiral. Add flour by the teaspoon until it has formed a smooth, malleable dough that does not stick to the sides or the kneading spiral.

If you add a little bit of olive oil to the pasta dough, it will slide better through the outlet openings of the pasta attachments.

For the pasta dough, you can use both normal household flour as well as wholegrain flour, gluten free flour, or flour made from durum wheat semolina. Different types of flours will require a different amount of liquids. Reserve some liquid and add it slowly for best results. Document your process so you can repeat it in the future.

Vegetable juices made, for example, from spinach, carrots or tomatoes are ideal for adding color and nutrients to your pasta.

Sprinkle flour on your pasta directly as it emerges from the outlet opening and place it down separated on a smooth floured surface to dry. This will prevent the pasta from sticking together.

Cooking time for fresh pasta is much shorter than for dried pasta from the supermarket; 2-4 minutes is usually sufficient. Thinner pastas, however, may require an even shorter cooking time. We recommend you check the pasta at regular intervals until the pasta is "al dente".

Fresh pasta can be kept for 1-2 days in the fridge and frozen in the freezer for as long as 6 months. To stop the pasta from sticking, you should lay the pasta out to dry for 1-2 hours before you store it in the fridge or freeze it.

Why does gears 1 and 5 work normal but 2 thru 4 has a grinding metal sound? sounds pretty bad.Does the trans. have a separate oil resevoir? 2004 883 sportster

Yes the primary case-transmission require it's own oil as the lubricant for this area is not provided by the engine oil. There is a drain plug located at the lower point of the case. Remove the plug and drain any oil that may be in the primary case. When finished, add one quart of oil to the case through the access hole at the top of the primary case where you check the tension on the primary chain.

I am switching from syn oil to reg hd oil on a 1992 flstf. Do I need to drain the engine case? If so, where is the plug located? Is there anything else I need to be aware of? THANKS

I would purchase a Harley Davidson repair manual or get one on CD from ebay not as much as a paperback and just as good. The repair manual is a mechanics best friend. Remember buy one it is the best friend you can have when doing maintenance on you harley.

The drain plug can be hard to find. In the 2001 Fat Boy, it is in front of the back motorcycle tire between the Fat Boy's rear shocks.

To do the oil change you need to warm up the oil so it drains better.

Tilt the motorcycle to its right side and position your oil catchment container under the oil plug.

Use your wrench set to unscrew the oil drain plug. In a 2001 Harley Davidson Fat Boy, you need a wrench that will fit a 1/4-inch screw.

Drain the oil. While oil is draining from your Harley Davidson, use the time to clean out the magnet and rubber ring positioned under the oil drain plug.

Remove and replace the oil filter after the oil has drained. Refill with 3 to 4 quarts of engine oil. Replace all parts, including drain plug.

Remember the HD manual will tell you how to check the level of primary fluid needed. Each HD is different and needs different amounts.

You check your primary fluid level through the inspection cover, which is the oval cover in the middle of the primary cover. You'll need a T25 Torx wrench to remove the bolts. Have a new inspection cover gasket in case you need it.

Add the fluid through the inspection cover. You can use any kind of oil petroleum or synthetic as long as it does not contain friction modifiers.

replace the gasket on the inspection cover if needed. Tighten bolts finger tight; then tighten the bolts at 10 foot pounds. Start with the top bolt and then tighten the bottom bolt. The third bolt is the right one, and the left bolt is last.

Just want to change tranmisson and primary oil

On a Sportster, the transmission and primary oil are the same. There is a drain plug underneat the bottom of the primary at the rear. The primary oil is added through the upper primary chain tensioning access hole at the top of the primary. Add about one quart of Primary and Transmission lube for Sportster. I'd recommend H-D oil.

How do i check the primary oil in my 2005 harley davidson electra glide. i changed the oil and added 32oz of oil as directed by the owners manual but i cannot see the oil in the clutch inspection cover....

if you put 32 oz of primary oil in the primary case then you have enough oil in there already. Never put more then 1 full quart or you will have leak issues. The way I do it is to have the bike upright and level and look through the primary inspection cover and as long as the chain is in the oil a little bit then your fine.

Not just changing oil, but is there gear oil to change, 1988 Harley 883 XL Sportster

Yes, there is oil in primary and transmission of your Sporty. To drain the oil, look for the drain plug on bottom of rear section of the primary area, back near the large round section of the primary. Drain the oil here and replace the plug. Add the oil at the top primary chain inspection port, large plug with a large "screwdriver" slot or two small bolts in it. Add 32-36 ounces of H-D "primary lubricant for Sportsters".
