1981 Yamaha XS650SH. It's a relay but not sure what does. All I need to know is what's its for.

i believe it is the voltage regulator with rectifier unit . this is used to take the alternator current which is (ac)and the rectifier converts it to (dc). The regulator part maintians a constant voltage to the battery ,lights ignition etc.regardless of variation of the engine speed and load.(lights ign. and other accessaries.

Carborator only lets it run when choke is on

The slow circuit of your carburetors is dirty or plugged. Take the carbs apart and squirt carb cleaner through the slow jets and the carb bodies. Count the turns in on your air screws, pull them and squirt cleaner through those passage ways too. Be sure to carefully remove, clean and inspect the carb tops too. When everything is clean and in good shape the bike should run great.

I hear talk of an air jet for the mukuni bs34 carb. I see a main jet, pilot jet, needle jet, air/fuel adjustment screw but I have no clue on where the air jet is located on this carb. I own a 1981 yamha...

I believe they are referring to the nozzle the needle goes into. A venturi effect is created by the position of the nozzle in the throat of the carb. The nozzle has holes in it and the fuel is sucked through the main jet and out the holes to mix with the rushing air as the needle raises. Beyond that I haven't got a clue.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!
