Question about 2005 Harley Davidson FLHT - FLHTI Electra Glide Standard

Engine Check Light on

I have a 2005 HD FLHTI. When I turn on the ignition the engine check light comes on and goes off, like it is suppose to, but then it comes back on and goes off in 5 seconds. How do I manually clear that engine check light without a scan tool?
Thanks for your help

I disconnected the battery, pulled the maxi fuse and 15amp ecm fuse. I waited a while and put the fuses back in and connected the battery and it was cleared.

When you turn the ignition ON before starting the car, the "Check engine" light is supposed to come on indicating that the engine computer (also could be called ECM, PCM, or ECU) is powered on. If the "Check engine" light does not come with the ignition ON, it's possible that there is no power coming to the engine computer (e.g., due to a broken wire, faulty main relay, burnt fuse, etc.) or that there is a problem with the engine computer itself.

What do i do when i have check engine

Hi Akintola, The engine check light is supposed to come on when the ignition is turned on and then when the engine is started it is supposed to go out. If the check light is not coming on as described and the engine is starting you most likely have a blown bulb. If the light comes on and stays on with the engine running, take the vehicle and have a diagnostic scan carried out. If the engine is refusing to start check the fuses for the ECU. Regards John

Check engine light come on for about 4 seconds after starting then goes out

May be an oil pressure thing. Maybe not gettin enough oil pressure at start, then when it builds up, the light goes out. How many miles since the last oil change?
