These bikes dont like to idle for very long. If you ride at a reasonable pace, it shouldn't glow for long. If it persists... Your jetting is too lean. Check out thumpertalk.com for a pictorial step by step how to re-jet

Exhaust glows red hot on dr650 after running on idle for about a minute, spark plugs very black/covered in carbon build up. Shouldnt the exhaust only get that hot running lean? surely then plugs would

If the bike is equipped with any kind of catalytic converter, then the extra raw fuel is burning up in the cat causing the glowing hot exhaust, and all that unburnt fuel in the combustion chamber is fouling the plugs.

Exhaust is glowing red After two minutes

Hi, Anonymous a YZ is a motocross bike designed to run flat out that being said if you are strolling down some scenic trail at a slow pace or letting the bike idle for a few minutes your header pipe will turn cherry red, why you ask? It is not a street bike, it is designed for competition and weight is a major factor all necessary components are of the smallest and lightest design necessary to maintain performance under extreme conditions ie. small radiator and inside frame oil reservoir that doesn't get cooled, the majority of your riding needs to be at high speed. Yamaha xt225 serow front exhaust pipe glows red within 5mins of starting also running rough

Fueling issue running far to lean, choke makes the circuit richer so it will run , lean running causes over heating and serious engine damage if its running red hot, check the plug for white burnt or blistering will show lean running. Compression test to make sure the piston ring and barrel are not damaged over 110psi. Is the exhaust blocked restricted or dented ?

Exhaust red hot,why?

It is quite normal for the pipe/muffler connected to the engine exhaust port to get very hot, especially when the engine is working hard running at speed under load. During daylight it is usually not noticeable, but at night it will visibly glow up to a bright red.

96 jaguar xj6 code po420

The code P0420 is the catalytic converter, you need to get this checked, by an exhaust specialist or mechanic with the correct equipment/ testers ,if the cat gets badly blocked it can stifle the engine and gets VERY hot , so being a danger of fire. I have seen these glowing bright red.
Hope this helps
