Question about 2000 Harley Davidson FLHRCI Road King Classic

1 Answer

2000 road king carburated starts then dies. Without turning off ignition it loses spark. turn key off then on it will start again until dying. after off then on again it will idle until running rpm up

Bike starts and then dies after a little time. Will turn over but not restart. turn off ignition and turn it back on it will restart and then repeat itself. after doing this a few times it will continue running at idle but will die as soon as RPM's are increased even slightly

SOURCE: My 2000 road king fuel injection starts right up

this could be a couple of different things first thing is to make sure your fuel pump pressures up the system, turn on ignition and listen for your fuel pump to come on,second is to your ignition on and off at least two or three more times this will reset your idle air contol.(make sure you are not on the throttle when you shut the bike off) If this does not clear up the problem you could have a bad senser or loose connection. good luck

I have a 2000 ford windstar that I bought last monday, it died last tuesday. go figure. I was driving down the road and it just died with no warning at all just stopped. I had it towed then the next day go...

You have O2 Sensor Codes

I believe you have a bad fuel pump,
thus low pressure and the O2 Sensors,
set a lean fault code

Check fuel pressure at the rail when you turn
the key to start or it is running

Changing spark plugs is something that
never has to be done to find out what issues
you have.
You could throw away a couple and it should start

Also NO Parts EVER get Changed until
TESTED and found to be bad

Idel adjustment on fuel injected road king.\not on

Thats not totally correct. remove your air filter cover. look to the lower right side. You will see a small hole thats where the screw driver goes in to adjust your idle. Ya the dealer has a scanlizer that can also do it if u want to spend the bucks.

It sounds like either alternator or computer, I f you can get it to run on its own pull the positive battery cable off the battery and if it dies its your alternator. And this is no real way to check the computer except going up to a AutoZone and they can check codes for free
