Missing on front left cyl. popping when you give it gas left front plug is clean and wet check fire and it is strong and blue compression is good

G,day. If only the L/H front cylinder is the problem & compression is good then the most likely possable causes of your problem are - A open circuit spark plug cap on that cylinder or a carburettor fault(blocked jet) on that cylinder(or carby balance setting).I would suggest testing the ignition coil secondary resistance.Do this by removing plug caps from cylinders 1 & 4. Set multimeter to kilo ohms(ohms x 1000) .One test lead to one plug cap- other test lead to other plug cap(do not allow probes to touch your fingers-touching both test probes whilst undertaking this test will give a false reading).reading should be 10 to 20kilo ohms.If open circuit-remove plug caps from leads( they unscrew)and test caps seperate. Should read 5 kilo ohms. Replace if open circuited(This is a common problem on all road bikes). If that sounds to difficult, any good motorcycle shop should be able to check them while you wait.It only takes a few seconds.Sorting the carbies without experience is very tricky.Have the carby balance & mixtures checked first in case its just an incorrect setting before pulling off & cleaning the carbies.
Hope this is helpfull

I have a 1980 gl 1100 goldwing. Up till recently been averaging about 45 mpg or so now it has dropped to about 15 mph. Carbs are sync. and clean. Fuel pump and filter in good working order. Wondering if...

Hi Birdmanofjax, and the usual suspects are:
1. Excessive enrichner use.
2. High-speed riding style.
3. Idle speed improperly adjusted.
4. Dirty air cleaner element (may also affect idle speed).
5. Vacuum piston assembly malfunction.
6. Excessive accelerator pump output.
7. Plugged or restricted bowl vent.
8. Fuel level too high.
9. Loose jets.
10. Worn or damaged needle or needle jet.
11. Enrichner valve not seated or leaking.
12. Plugged air jets or passages.

I have a primary jet and secondary jet in the carburator of the 500 gl silverwing . and the jets I have is 75 and 125 which goes where . and what should be the setting on the air jet ?

The secondary main jet (125) goes into the jet needle holder in the center of the carb (needle). The primary main jet (75) is between the secondary main jet and the pilot screw (this one is slightly off center) . The start setting for your air screw should be 1 3/4 turns. Warm up your engine and drive for ten minutes. Adjust your idle speed to 1100 + or - 100 rpm. Now turn pilot screw in or out to get highest idle speed. Readjust idle to 1100 rpm. Now turn pilot screw in till idle speed drops 100 rpm. If pilot screw seats go to next step. Adjust the pilot screw out 1 full turn from 100 rpm drop point. Now reset Idle to 1100 rpm. That is how Honda says to set your air screw. Standard setting is probably sea level and going through the procedure will set you up for the altitude where you ride. Do the adjustment during good weather at the altitude you plan to do the most riding.

2007 honda 15hp what carbi jet do i need to make it a 20hp.prop size . boat is a quintex 4.75 car topper

sorry you cant add 5 hp by changing the carby jet, jets are changed to get the air mixture right, if the mixture was wrong you might change it and get 1 hp, but to increase by 25%, would need modifications to the engine, carb and exhaust

I have a 96 honda shadow ace starts and idles fine but when i put it in gear and go it pops bangs and has no power??? put it back into nutural and rev in idle all is good any sulutions please?

Hi, if your bike has CV carbies (vacuum slide) it may have a hole in the air filter or no filter, CV's need to have the original airbox or be jetted if openned, so if has a leak airbox side of carbies will run great in neutral but will miss badly under load, could also have a hole in one of the carby vacuum slide diaphrams
