How to aliane marks on cam shaft pulley on mazda protege 2002


1. Remove all spark plugs so that the crank shaft could be rotated easily.
2. Rotate the crankshaft to align the timing mark of the crankshaft gear with the index mark on the engine cover.
3.Rotate the crankshaft +/- 30 degrees to ensure that the valve could not hit the pistons when aligning the camshaft gears.
4. Align the camshafts as described below.
5. Align the crankshaft timing gear with the index mark.
6. Loose and lock the timing bearing at its farther position. Install a timing belt starting from the crankshaft gear, then right cam, then left cam, and at last the timing bearing.
7. Press and hold the timing belt to keep it firm on the gears and loosen the timing bearing. It will get adjusted by itself with the help of spring attached to it. Do not put extra force on the bearing to adjust it more.
8. Confirm the timing marks.

2006 Harley Electra-Glide, Twin cam 88, six speed tranny slipping/popping gears when under acceleration. Multiple pops. Tried adjusting clutch and it got worse. Mainly in lower gears but does it...


If your clutch is not slipping check your shift linkage joints. Rocking the bike lets you know your tranny has gears but the shifter pawl may need adjustment

How to set timing on a 1997 chevy blazer and get a diagram of it


sorry but the ignition timing is controlled by the electronic control module, (ecm) however if you have a scanner that can read datastream you can adjust the cam ******.. go to cam ****** on the datastream list , start engine rev to 1200-1500 rpm and check reading should be at 0 degrees plus or minus 2 degrees, if not you adjust at the distributor by rotating the distributor. the adjustment should be made with engine off then restart and rev again to 1200-1500 rpm and check the cam ****** again,by the way if unable to adjust the distributor gear of the distributor itself may be worn out and need replacement, hope this helps.

How do i time a 250 sx 3 wheeler


NOTES:
The cam gear has 2 holes opposite from each other, some have slash marks.
Those marks will be parellel with the head once the timing chain is on.
Both intake and exhaust valve will be closed.
If the lobes on the cam are up, then your 180 degrees out and need to flip it over

Assuming the jug is on , and motor is on TDC, install the head, hold the cam with the cam gear attached tand place it in the head with the lobes down in its place, look at the marks on the cam gear and keep them parellel with the head, put the timing chain over the cam gear carefully.
once the chain is on, check that the motor didn't move and is still on TDC, and that when you lay the cam all the way down, the cam gear marks are parellel with the head.

If the marks are parellel and motor is on TDC, now you can put your rockers back on and adjust your valve clearance. .03 intake .05 exhaust

Install you exhaust, intake , carb, etc and fire it up.

How to set Honda CBR 150 timing


Make sure the motor is on TDC compession stroke when you take it apart.
I'm skipping the tear down because if you want to adjust your timing, im assuming that you already
have it apart.

On TDC place the cam in the head so that both valves are closed.
There should be marks on the cam gear.(cam gear is attached to the cam)
Those marks should be parellel with the head.
While holding the cam in its slot in the head, carefully put the timing chain over the cam gear. You make have to pick the back of the cam up so the front leans forward enough to allow the timing chain to go on.
Once timing chain is on, double check that the motor is still at TDC and that the cam gear marks are parellel; with the head. if not you may have to go one tooth either way to get parellel.
If Motor is still on TDC and your timing marks are good, then your done.

Put the valve rockers back on and the timing chain tensioner, adjust your valve clearance.

With then spark plug out, turn the motor over by hand and watch the valves open and close, if anything is in a bind or if feels tight then your 180 degrees out which means you had you cam in upside down. Turn the cam over 180 degrees and your good to go.

The rotor is keyed so the only way that could go out of time would be if the keyway is sheared, hence the rotor would move retarded or advanced hence back fire out exhaust or intake.

If rotor keyway is sheared, you'll need a puller to pull off the rotor and replace the keyway.
It only goes on one way. On The Keyway.

If your CDI isn't working it will have to be replaced.
If your signal generators isn't working it will have to be replaced.

Hi need to know what timing marks to use when replacing cams


The timing marks to use are spot-drilled on the faces of the timing gears.
The timing marks on the camshaft gears must align side-by-side, and as closest as possible on the Toyota,Camry 2.2 engine.

there is a special tool to hold gears in correct place on some of these models, but you can hold one cam at a time with a spanner then feed belt on exhaust cam then inlet cam gear
get someone to hold gears in place while you feed belt on.
the inlet cam is more prone to turn off mark more than exhaust.
if you have tensioner that needs retaining pin in when installing
you fit belt while aligning timming marks
fit tensioner as last spot to feed belt on with retaining pin in adjuster
get correct tension on belt by turning water pump so that you can flex (turn) belt 90 degrees only just while using finger and thumb
tighten water pump check flex
check all timing marks are correct
remove retaining pin from auto tensioner
turn motor over a couple of turns by hand observing tensioner arrow should hover around V mark and that all timing marks align up again(after one complete turn)

1986 nissan 300zx timing belt replacement, cams moved!


the gears of the timing are marked with little indents on the gears and little dimples in the tin behind the gears on the cams and on the bottom gear (crank shaft) there is on the aluminum housing behind it the top is open and on the front side is a lip that only goes a short distance half inch or so and then it has a notch in that lip and goes back to the lip . thats the bottom timing notch . you line up the notch and the marks and its right ... turn the engin over twice and check it .. it should still be the same .. the timing belt needs to be only so tight so dont over do the adjustment .. half an inch of deflection at twenty pounds of presure .. measure it between the rear of the car cam and the tension adjuster .. half an inch should be measured as its more movement then normaly figured as tight i thought .. good luck .. paul in sw idaho
