How do I correctly set the Fuel Supply valve

The fuel supply to the carburetor is turned off when the handle is in the horizontal position. Turning the handle up to the vertical position turns on the main supply. Turning the handle down to the vertical position turns on the reserve supply. The valve is vacuum-operated

and will open and close when the engine is turned ON or OFF. The fuel supply valve should be turned off when the engine is not running. If the fuel supply valve is not turned off when the engine is not running, it is possible for fuel to drain into the engine, dilute the engine oil and cause engine damage. The fuel supply to the carburetor is controlled by the valve handle positions and an internal vacuum operated valve. No fuel will flow through the valve until the following conditions are met: the handle must be in ON or RES position; a vacuum of approximately 0.5-1.0 in. (12.7-25.4 mm) of

Mercury (Hg) must be applied to the vacuum nipple.

Harley fuel valve diagram

The fuel supply valve is a vacuum operated valve under the left side of the fuel tank and it delivers fuel to the carburetor when the handle is turned so it is pointing up in the vertical position (ON) and vacuum is supplied to it from the carburetor. The fuel supply is turned OFF when the handle is in the horizontal position and when no vacuum is supplied to the valve from the carburetor. There is a RESERVE fuel supply and it is operational when the handle is turned to point down. IT SHOULD BE TURNED OFF when the engine is not running because if it is not it is possible for fuel to drain into the engine, dilute the engine oil and
cause engine damage.

Get on it and ride it some more, as the wheels turn they will then turn the speedo drive weather in the gear box or at the front wheel,

This in turn twists the speedo cable or fires the electronic speedo drive , this will then make the speedo needle leave the zero stopper and slowly rotate in the speedo cluster.

Whilst this is happening the trip meter will clock over meters + kilometre's , this will add milage to you fz.

Now this is a long winded description of how to do it but I guess that if you can t work out how to add milage to your bike you needed it.

good luck with it hope this info helps you.

Tire pro

Excessive ware one one side of your tire could be a result of favoring right or left handed turns more then the other. I find my self favoring lefts so I have worn out more tires on the left side as well. But if the rear tire isn't warring the same then it could be some of the following. 1-Improper spacing of the front wheel - not sitting true in between the front tubes 2-Bad tire compound set loose on one side and wore uneven (happens a lot on china made tires) 3-front axle is bent 4-wheel B-rings are gone (will cause tire to track more on one side) 5-front tubes are bent. 6-Bent rim
