Question about Honda Motorcycles

1989 gl 1500 choke stuck open. It was off and as I applied choke it did not return off. Can I try anything from the throttle end?

Can I remove cable and work in and out from throttle end before going to carbs?

    I live in So Florida and don't need choke. I just want to shut off choke until I bring for tuneup. Can I temp shut off choke without getting to carbs?

There is a linkage on the carbs if you can get to it ,push it closed

sounds like your main jet is clogged you will need to take carb off and clean the jets out run a peice of a wire wheel through the jet to ensure they are clear you also need to clean your float needle valve to ensure that it is getting enough fuel

where the valves set cold or hot? could make the world of a difference...is there intake leaks? bad floats perhaps....its a problem that will take some time cancelling out problem by problem

Revs really high
The gx160 has flag control on air intake to carb.
The flag is spring loaded to return to idil .
the spring has came off/ the cable has bunched preventing free movement.

2000 1500se , starts fine with choke , idle is fine but cuts off when I throttle up ? Bike has only 10645 miles .
More than likely the carbs need to be removed , taken apart and thoroughly cleaned. Replace fuel filter first. With that many miles, bike has done a lot of sitting in storage.

My 1989 honda gl 1500 gold wing wont start in cold weather, it cranks over
Mine does the same thing. I put a new gel battery with high cold cranking amps from Advanced Auto Parts. Look to spend 100 bucks. Choke at full choke and it starts right up now. Gold Wings are cold natured. I own 2 and both are. But the battery took care of the cold starts.

How to change out a choke cable on 2001 barley fxd
To change the choke cable, you must take the carb off the engine. Remove the air filter and backing plate. Take the nut off the backside of the choke cable and let the cable come out of the bracket that holds it. Make sure the petcock is turned off and disconnect the fuel hose at the carb. Loosen the throttle and idle cable at the handlebar throttle assembly. Pull the carb out of the intake manifold seal. Work the throttle and idle cables out of their positions in the carb. Bring the carb with the choke cable out and away from the engine. Take the choke cable out of the carb with a 14mm open end wrench. Take the plunger and spring off the old cable and swap it to the new cable and reinstall the choke cable. Put the throttle and idle cables back onto the carb, put a new intake manifold seal on the intake manifold and push the carburetor back into the new seal. Put the choke cable in it's bracket and secure the nut. Be careful and do not over tighten the nut as the plastic cable housing will break. Reconnect the fuel line, the vacuum line, and anything else that was taken off. Replace the air filter backing plate and the air cleaner. Readjust the throttle and idle cables making sure that the throttle operates freely and returns when let go on it's own. Never put any kind of lubricant on the choke cable. There is a knurled wheel that you can use to tighten the cable so that it stays where you put it.

How do i remove carbs on 89 goldwing
This is a very extensive proceedure, but you have to remove anything and everything that'll prevent you from getting those carbes off.

If you have the four carbs attached to a big airbox, the airbox has to be removed with the carbs and then disassembled from the airbox. Once you take the airbox lid off you'll see the screws that holds the carbs.
The water lines attached to the carb go into the engine just pop right out, they have an o-ring on the ends of them,
Once you have the throttle cables, choke cable, vacuum line and water lines disconnted, you can pull out the whole airbox with the carbs attached from the left side of the bike.

Wont start without choke and will not idle. New plugs, fuel filter and clean new gas. Air filter is fine. Runs great other than will not idle except with throttle open slightly. Issue just started without...
try uping your idle and leave choke open longer.

Very low power on 1989 gl1500, idles smooth but stumbles when you try to accelerate in N. top speed about 75mph.
