SOURCE: cruise control wont work

Has the clutch safety switch been bypassed? - Does the bike start without the clutch pulled in? if so replace the clutch safety switch, most common cause of the Cruise not working, Remember that you must be in 5th gear, clutch & break levers out, foot off the break pedal, throttle twist grip not below idle - into the spring loaded portion below idle (There is a switch in there to turn the cruise to standby), The cruise switch on the right switch block is on. 1986 cavalcade 1400 has a leak from behind the case. Upon closer inspection it seems to come from a boot that goes from the tranmission back to the rear driveshaft. It is not gear oil it is motor oil....

You have an oil leak from the engine.
If you cannot find where the engine is leaking, remove the chrome cover infront of teh rubber boot you mention, 4 bolts, run the engine/go for a ride. See if you can trace the leek. Airflow while riding can force the oil away from the leak and show up elsewhere on the engine.

How hard is it to rebuild or replace a slave cylinder on a 1987 Cavalcade, it is leaking someware inside no "puddles" and can you suggest a parts "house"

Clutch slave cylinder rebuilds require the removal of the "secondary" drive unit, the right angle drive unit beside/aft of the left drivers foot peg. While you are in there, you need to check/fit the "Tracy Plug" and check for play in the output bearing.

Removing the battery on a 1987 suzuki cavalcade

Remove the right side fairing pocket cover and the tray under it and you will see the Battery. You may have to remove the fuse block to get the pocket tray out.
Remove the rubber strap holding the battery in, if fitted, and disconnect the battery, noting how many wires go to each terminal, Disconnect the Negative, or Black, wires first and connect them up last.

Fitting is the opposite.
