Same kind of thing happened to me and it turns out it was the ECU, otherwise known as the engine control unit. I went to the wreckers and got a new one. :)
check oil wii#th dipstick and you may have a faulty sender on engine block. if you remove sender connector the orange light should go out . proof that the sender is faulty
The light may be , but not the starting issue. Sounds to me like this needs a complete tune up the way your describing the starting issue. The engine light usually do stay on while a car is starting, they are programmed to go off 10-15 sec after the car starts. This is simply the computer going thru all the sensors.
that would be your check engine light... stop by your local autozone and ask them to scan the codes (free) and they should be able to tell you what they are... post them here when you find out
carriage is jammed, turn off and see if you can manually move it
look for paper jam or other objects (paperclip,staple and so on). remove cartridges and inspect.
