Question about Yamaha Motorcycles
After rings replacement yamaha won't start. I started it by pushing and, low compresion and low power
Many piston compression (rather than oil) rings are uni-directional, and need to be installed with the proper side upward. The rings will have a "T" or "TOP" etched on the surface that needs to face upwards.
So my first question is, did you install the rings upside down?
Second, why did you replace the rings?
Did you measure the cylinder bore? Was it oversized, or out of round?
Is the bore worn enough that the piston is now too loose a fit?
Did you get the correct size rings? If you bored the cylinder, did you get the proper oversize rings?

Testimonial: "i installed the rings correctly. about month ago i drove my yamaha and suddenly it lose a power, it was driving very weak and start shoot from exhaust. I take off the cylinder and head and saw that one rings was broken, so i bought new one( 56mm-original sized piston) and replaced them. after i put it together i try to start it and it wont start. So i bump start him and i must give a lot of throttle to keep him work, and i can drive him but it's very low on power and doesn't sound right"

these bikes are the hardest bikes to fix, easiest thing, kick the bike super slow until you piston is at TDC, you will know because it will be hard to kick, then pull the compression release down and as you start to kick release the compression release. NOT an easy task starting a 426 but good luck

SOURCE: Yamaha dt125 runs on choke
The cause of this in most gas engines is a plugged jet in the carb. It must be taken apart and thoroghly cleaned. The jet must be unplugged with a stiff wire or paper clip if it will fit. Carb cleaner alone will not do the trick.
