Question about 2007 AMERICAN IronHorse Slammer

2 Answers

My 2007 American IronHorse Slammer is fuel injected. It is idling very high as if it's going to blow up. When I switch gears it will not idle down. Also it is back firing and sounds like its sucking air through air filter. What is the problem?

Check connection to the idle air control on your throttle body. The iac has a plunger that moves in & out causing idle change. If the throttle body is dirty it restricts the iac plunger travel. Tru seafoam in your gas to clean fuel injection system. Follow directions on cam! Run the complete tank to clean system. Note: you will need to change fuel filter when done.

It sounds like you might have a bad ground connection. Try cleaning the battery cables, and check the ground on the frame. Take it off and clean the frame and cable to make sure you have a good connection. Good Luck!

I washed my American ironhorse 2007 with pressure cleaner and now it misfires and runs lean

ive had this happen to me you simply need to readjust your air mixture screw believe it or not the pressure is so great that it will change your mixture settings and you also need to dry off your coil and spark plug wires.

The fuel pump was changed, now it idles high.

The idle speed is controlled by an Engine Control Module (ECM).
It needs to be put on a computor to be checked.
The idle air valve provides the control for constant idle speed. In order to set the correct air valve opening to achieve constant idle speed, the fuel injection control unit uses information from the air mass meter, A/C switch, throttle valve switch and the ignition control unit (RPM signal) to regulate the output current to idle air valve. This means, there is alot of things that can make the idle speed go up or down...Hope this was some help to you??
