On what?
Motorcycle cam timing is usually achieved by lining marks on the cam gear up with the head in reference to marks on the stator or crankshaft to time it with the bottom end.
However this is often different dependent on the model.

In this case the solenoid needs to be replaced.The error code in this case is P1533.This code is many a times noticed on Mercedes Benz.

Installation
  1. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: The camshaft must be held stationary at the hexagons with locking pliers. Do not use the alignment tool to hold the camshaft in position or damage to the camshaft may occur.
    NOTE: To loosen the camshaft pulleys, hold the camshafts by the hexagon.
    Loosen the camshaft pulleys.
    1. Remove the blanking plug from the exhaust camshaft pulley.
    1. Loosen the exhaust camshaft pulley bolt.
    1. Loosen the intake camshaft pulley bolt.

  1. NOTE: Rotate the camshafts clockwise as necessary.
    Install the camshaft alignment timing tool on the back of the camshafts.

  1. NOTE: Cylinder No. 1 is at top dead center (TDC) when the keyway is in the 12 o'clock position.
    Confirm the crankshaft position is at TDC (No. 1 cylinder) by rotating it clockwise against the alignment peg.

    NOTE: The lug of the belt tensioner should not be hooked in the sheet metal cover during timing belt installation.
    Position a new timing belt in place.

Need directions on how to install a timing chain on a 2002 Saturn L series 2.2 liter along with the allignment marks for the intake and exhaust cams


To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    • Timing chain drive sprocket to crankshaft
      1. Rotate the crank so the mark on the sprocket is at the 5 o'clock position
  2. Assemble chain to the intake camshaft sprocket alignment copper link to the "INT" diamond timing mark on the camshaft sprocket sat_car_22_tmng-chn_pos.gif

    NOTE: When lowering the timing chain rotate the assembly 90° to allow the chain to fall between the cylinder block bosses then rotate the assembly back so the camshaft sprocket is facing forward.

  3. Lower the assembly through the chain housing opening on top of the cylinder head. Use care to ensure that the chain goes around both sides of the cylinder block bosses NOTE: The crankshaft sprocket timing mark will be at approximately the 5 o'clock position.
  4. Route chain around crankshaft sprocket and align silver link to the timing mark sat_car_22_set_tdc.gif

    NOTE: The camshaft sprocket bolts are not reusable; they are torque-to-yield and must be discarded to prevent premature failure.
  5. Install or connect the following:
    • Intake camshaft sprocket loosely onto the intake camshaft then install the new camshaft sprocket bolt finger tight NOTE: It is not necessary to align the sprocket-to-camshaft offset notch at this time.
    • Adjustable timing chain guide through the opening on top of the cylinder head then install the chain guide bolt; torque to 89 lb-in. (10 Nm) sat_car_22_ajst_tmng-ch_guid.gif

    • Exhaust camshaft sprocket loosely onto the exhaust camshaft with the timing mark on the sprocket aligned with the silver link then install a new camshaft sprocket bolt finger tight
    NOTE: It is not necessary to align the sprocket-to-camshaft offset notch at this time.
    NOTE: The camshaft sprocket bolts are not reusable; they are torque-to-yield and must be discarded to prevent premature failure.
  6. Align the camshaft sprocket-to-camshaft then tighten the camshaft bolt using the following procedure: sat_car_22_crnk_tmng-c_mrk.gif

    NOTE: Do not rotate either camshaft more than 1/2 turn in either direction with the crankshaft at Top Dead Center (TDC). To do so may cause valve to piston contact resulting in a damaged valve and/or a damaged piston.
    • Ensure that the sprocket timing mark is at the 5 o'clock position
    • Rotate the intake camshaft using a 24mm wrench on the flats of the camshaft until the sprocket-to-camshaft alignment notch seats
    • When the sprocket seats on the camshaft tighten the sprocket bolt finger tight
    • Rotate exhaust camshaft using a 24mm wrench on the flats of the camshaft until the sprocket-to-camshaft alignment notch seats
    • When the sprocket seats on the camshaft tighten the sprocket bolt finger tight
  7. Verify that all colored links are aligned with the appropriate marks on the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets NOTE: If they are not repeat steps 1C through 4.
  8. Install the fixed timing chain guide and bolts; torque to 89 lb-in. (10 Nm)
  9. Install the fixed timing chain guide bolt access hole plug; torque to 30 lb-ft. (40 Nm)
  10. Install upper timing chain guide and bolts; torque to 89 lb-in. (10 Nm) NOTE: Use a 24mm wrench to support the camshaft while applying torque to the camshaft sprocket bolt. Do not torque the camshaft bolts against the timing chain as it may damage the timing chain.
  11. Torque the intake and exhaust camshaft sprocket bolts; torque as follows:
    • First Pass: 63 lb-ft. (85 Nm)
    • Second Pass: Turn an additional 30° using a torque angle gauge
  12. Install the sealing ring and tensioner assembly; torque to 55 lb-ft. (75 Nm)
  13. Install or connect the following:
    • Timing chain oil nozzle and bolt; torque to 89 lb-in. (10 Nm)
    • Camshaft cover assembly
    • Engine front cover
    • Negative battery cable; torque to 13 lb-ft. (17 Nm)

CAUTION
The 2.0L engine is an interference motor. Extending the replacement interval could lead to the belt breaking and severe and costly engine damage. Care must be taken if rotating the crankshaft or camshafts with the belt off, if resistance is felt, do not force them to turn.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the timing belt covers as outlined in this Section.
  3. Remove the valve cover.
  4. Place Camshaft Alignment Timing Tool T94P-6256-CH or equivalent, into the slots of both camshafts at the rear of the cylinder head to lock the camshafts into position. NOTE: If the special tool is unavailable, a suitable length and width straight edge can be used to align the camshafts.
  5. Loosen the camshaft timing belt tensioner pulley retaining bolt and move the tensioner pulley to relieve the tension on the timing belt.
  6. Temporarily tighten the tensioner in this position. NOTE: If the timing belt is to be reused, mark the belt for the direction of rotation before removing to prevent premature wear or failure.
  7. Remove the timing belt.
  8. If required, remove the sprockets as follows:
    1. Hold the camshaft with an appropriate camshaft sprocket holding tool.
    2. Loosen and remove the camshaft sprocket retaining bolt.
    3. Remove the sprocket from the camshaft.
    4. Repeat the procedure for the 2nd camshaft sprocket.
    5. Remove the crankshaft sprocket.
  9. Slide the crankshaft sprocket onto the crankshaft aligning the key-way.
  10. Align the camshafts using the Camshaft Alignment Timing Tool T94P-6256-CH. NOTE: If the special tool is unavailable, a suitable length and width straight edge can be used to align the camshafts.
  11. Reinstall the sprockets onto the camshafts and loosely install the camshaft retaining bolts.
  12. Tighten the camshaft sprocket retaining bolts to 47–53 ft. lbs. (64–72 Nm) .
  13. Loosely install the crankshaft pulley to verify that the engine is at TDC. Realign the marks if they have moved.
  14. Verify that the camshafts are aligned. NOTE: It is recommended to purchase a tensioner spring and retaining bolt through the dealer parts to apply the proper tension for used or new belt installations. The spring is bolted to the tensioner assembly and becomes a part of the engine. Ignore this notice if the tensioner spring is already installed.
  15. Reinstall the retaining bolt (W700001-S309) into the hole provided in the cylinder block and place the tensioner spring (6L277) between the bolt and the camshaft timing belt tensioner pulley.
  16. Tighten the retainer bolt to 71–97 inch lbs. (8–11 Nm) .
  17. Remove the crankshaft pulley and install the timing belt onto the crankshaft sprocket, then onto the camshaft sprockets working in a counterclockwise direction.
  18. Tighten the camshaft sprocket retaining bolts to 47–53 ft. lbs. (64–72 Nm) .
  19. Be sure that the span of the camshaft timing belt between the crankshaft sprocket and the exhaust camshaft sprocket is not loose.
  20. Be sure that the camshaft timing belt is securely aligned on all sprockets.
  21. Reinstall the lower timing belt cover and tighten the retaining bolts to 53–71 inch lbs. (6–8 Nm) .
  22. Apply silicone sealer to the key-way of the crankshaft pulley and install. Tighten the retaining bolt to 81–89 ft. lbs. (110–120 Nm) .
  23. Inspect the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley to verify that the engine is still at TDC.
  24. Loosen the camshaft timing belt tensioner pulley retaining bolt and allow the tensioner spring attached to the pulley to draw the tensioner pulley against the camshaft timing belt.
  25. Remove the camshaft alignment timing tool from the camshafts at the rear of the engine.
  26. Turn the crankshaft two revolutions in a clockwise direction.
  27. Tighten the camshaft timing belt tensioner pulley retaining bolt to 26–30 ft. lbs. (35–40 Nm) .
  28. Recheck that the crankshaft timing mark is at TDC for the No. 1 piston, and that both camshafts are in alignment using the camshaft alignment timing tool. NOTE: A slight adjustment of the camshafts to allow the insertion of the camshaft alignment timing tool is permissible as long as the crankshaft stays at the TDC location.
  29. An appropriate camshaft sprocket holding tool can be used to move the camshaft sprocket (s) if a slight adjustment is required.
  30. If a camshaft is not properly aligned, perform the following procedure:
    1. Loosen the retaining bolt securing the sprocket to the camshaft while holding the camshaft sprocket from turning with the sprocket holding tool.
    2. Turn the camshaft until the camshaft alignment timing tool can be installed.
    3. Verify that the crankshaft timing mark is at TDC for the No. 1 cylinder.
    4. While holding the camshaft sprocket with the camshaft sprocket holding tool, tighten the retaining bolt to 47–53 ft. lbs. (64–72 Nm) .
    5. Remove the tool and rotate the crankshaft two revolutions (clockwise) .
    6. Verify that the camshafts are aligned and that the crankshaft is at TDC for the No. 1 cylinder.
  31. Install the valve cover.
  32. Install the timing belt covers.

I need to find the camshaft position sensor on my 2003 nissan murano


Camshaft Position Sensors are located on the cylinder head according to the following: Camshaft, Bearings & Lifters Removal & Installation To Remove:
  1. Remove the engine from the vehicle.
  2. Remove the front suspension member, transaxle and transfer case (if equipped) from the engine.
  3. Mount the engine in a suitable engine stand.
  4. Remove the timing chains and rear timing chain case.
  5. Remove the camshaft position sensors from the cylinder heads.
  6. Remove the intake valve timing control solenoid valves. NOTE: Mark the camshafts, camshaft brackets, and bolts so they are placed in the original locations during installation.
  7. Loosen the camshaft bracket bolts in several steps using the order shown.
  8. Remove the intake and exhaust camshaft brackets and the camshafts. Camshaft bracket bolt removal sequence nissan-03-35-4624.gif

  9. Remove the valve lifters and the secondary timing chain tensioner with stopper pin attached if necessary.
NOTE: Stopper pin was installed when the secondary timing chain was removed.
To Install:
NOTE: Clean sealant from front camshaft bracket, bolts and bolt holes.
  1. Turn the crankshaft until No.1 piston is at TDC on the compression stroke. The crankshaft key should line up with the right bank center line as shown. Crankshaft keyway position nissan-03-35-4625.gif

  2. If removed, install the secondary timing chain tensioners and valve lifters in their original positions. NOTE: The intake camshaft has a drill mark on the edge of the sprocket mounting flange.

  4. Apply silicone sealant to the front (No. 1) camshaft bracket as shown. Apply silicone sealant to the front (No. 1) camshaft bracket nissan-03-35-4627.gif

  5. Install and tighten the camshaft brackets using the following steps in the sequence shown;
    • Step 1 (bolts 7 - 10) : 1 ft-lb (2 Nm)
    • Step 2 (bolts 1 - 6) : 1 ft-lb (2 Nm)
    • Step 3 (bolts 1 - 10): 4 ft-lbs (5.9 Nm)
    • Step 4 (bolts 1 - 6) : 8 ft-lbs (10.4 Nm)
    • Step 4 (bolts 7 - 10) : 7 ft-lbs (9.3 Nm)
  6. Wipe off excess sealant from bracket No. 1.
  7. Measure the difference between the front surfaces of camshaft bracket No. 1 and the cylinder head. The specification is -0.0055 to 0.0055 in (-0.14 to 0.14 mm). Replace the camshaft and camshaft bracket if out of specification. Measure the difference between the front surfaces of camshaft bracket No. 1 and the cylinder head nissan-03-35-4629.gif

  8. Install the IVT control solenoid valves with new gaskets.
  9. If removed, install the camshaft position sensor.
  10. Install the rear timing chain case and timing chains.
  11. Install the engine in the vehicle.

3 Rotate the crankshaft clockwise against the peg.

    1. Install the exhaust camshaft sprocket. Make sure that the tab on the sprocket engages the hole previously positioned at 12 o'clock in the oil control solenoid bushing.
      • Loosely install the bolt.

    1. Loosely install the timing chain tensioner.
    1. Install the timing belt.

      Using a 6 mm Allen wrench, adjust the timing belt tensioner until the index marks are aligned. Tighten the bolt

    1. sxf~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: The camshaft must be held stationary with an open-end wrench. Do not use the alignment tool to hold the camshaft in position or damage to the camshaft may occur.
      Tighten the bolt on the intake camshaft sprocket.

      Tighten the bolt on the exhaust camshaft sprocket in three steps.
      • Tighten the bolt to 50 Nm (36 lb-ft).
      • Remove the TDC peg and Camshaft Alignment Timing Tool.
      • Tighten the bolt to 115-125 Nm (85-92 lb-ft).

      Install the VCT oil plug.c96f65a.gif
    1. NOTE: Make sure the correct (second) notch in the pulley is indexed to the lower cylinder block.
      Position the crankshaft just prior to top dead center.
    2. 993d4ea.gifRemove the bolt and install the TDC peg. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise against the peg. NOTE: Installation of the alignment tool into the exhaust camshaft may require the camshaft to be rotated clockwise. If the alignment tool does not align and install in the camshafts, repeat Steps 1 through 17.
      Install the Camshaft Alignment Timing Tool on the back of the camshafts.
      1. Remove the alignment tool and TDC timing peg.
