Place the motorcycle on its side stand.
Start the engine and let it idle.
If the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) does not light
or blink, the system has no memory of problem data.
If the malfunction indicator blinks, note how many
times the MIL blinks, and determine the. cause of the
problem (page 5-10 through 5-49).
If you wish to read the PGM-FI memory for trouble
data, perform the following:
Tum the ignition switch OFF.
Remove the seat (page 2-2).
Short the PGM-FI system service check connector terminals
using a jumper wire.
Tum the ignition switch ON and engine stop switch
RUN.
Even
if the PGMFl
has memory
data, the MIL
does not blink
when the engine
running.
If the ECM has no self diagnosis memory data, the
MILwill illuminate, when you tum the ignition switch
ON.
If the ECM has self diagnosis memory data, the MIL
will start blinking when you tum the ignition switch
ON.
Note how many times the MIL blinks, and determine
the cause of the problem (page 5-10 through
5-49).

SELF-DIAGNOSIS RESET PROCEDURE
1.Tum the engine stop switch RUN and ignition
switch OFF.
2. Short the service check connector of the PGM-FI
system using a jumper wire.
3. Tum the ignition switch ON.
4. Remove the jumper wire from the service check
connector.
5. The MIL lights about 5 seconds.
While the indicator lights, short the service check
connector again with the jumper wire.
Self diagnosis memory data is erased, if the MIL
tum off and start blinking.
.The service check connector must be jumped while
the indicator lights. If not, the MIL will not start

.
blinking. Note that the self diagnosis memory data cannot be
erased if you tum off the ignition switch before the
MIL starts blinking.
If the MIL blinks 20 times, the data has not been

erased, so try again.

Testimonial: "the light doesn't blink.it only lights up in gear at 5000 rpm,s and it stays on until I shut off bike and restart.in neutral I can rev up to 15000 rpm,s and the light wont come on.it has to b in gear.i cant understand what the problem is.all I did was change my oil pan and but cheap oil in.after that I lost speed ometer and this light comes on.im gonna try new oil today and see if it works but I just dnt think its the oil.it makes no sense to me."

code p 1491 is a radiator fan control relay circuit
the engine going to full rpm and not going anywhere is a transmission control problem
could be torque converter clutch servo / solenoid , dirty oil , low oil , low oil pump pressure , TR sensor or TCM
you got ti cheap so you can expect problems
best advice is to take it to an accredited specialist automatic transmission professional for a proper diagnosis and quote
any where else will get you a new transmission response with out properly explaining the problems
That fact that it is driving and got you home indicates that it is not a terminal problem , just electronic controls and sensors

Changing engine oil every 5000 KM or every 2500?

The service duration is affected by many things.. If you are driving in a dusty atmosphere or doing a lot of high RPM but low gear driving, change the oil every 2500kms. if you do mainly highway driving with low rpm but top gear, change the oil every 5000 kms. As a rule, I always replace the oil filter at every oil change even though toyota says you dont have to.

It depends on what kind of oil are you use.Better quality oil lasts longer(5000 miles). If you drive on cheap oil you better change it earlier (3000 miles).
