New Battery, Have lights, Does not turn over

The Suzuki Savage I bought last fall sat for many years in a covered carport. It turned over and it had a spark. All I did to it was Change the oiI and filter, air filter also was changed (30 dollar air filter) . Cleaned out the fuel tank and put fresh clean furl in. Bought a new battery at Interstate and they charged it up this spring, I put it in the motorcycle after everything was done and I got nice bright strong lights from everywhere, Head, Tail, turn, speedometer, netural lights,
The starter will not even click when trying to start it with the electric starter. Good lights but no starter to even find out if It has a spark,

Bang the side of the starter with a hammer (dead blow) and hold the start button. sounds like the starter solenoid is frozen. if not check the relay, and the switch, you can check the switch by doing a continuity test on it. good luck ill check back...

1996 Suzuki Savage 650, engine knocks

knocking increases with engine speed ...check for worn wrist pin to piston clearance, rod bottom bearing clearance, very unlikely the timing chain has any kinks with a chain tensioner set properly...a loose chain could make some noise so check the tension setting

Just bought 2001 suzuki savage and when i start it up i see oil dripping from the front

Probably the gasket is worn, and doesnt seals the cover to the oilcarter.
drain the oil..open the cover...replace the seal(gasket)...cover back on,turn the screws tight but not to tight...put oil back in...start the engine let it idle for 3 minutes then rev it to apr. 4000 and hold it for 1 minute...kill the engine, check the screws and tighten hard if needed.
That should stop leaking from the front, so you can get back to riding again.
greetings.....Gilbert.
